Phil Kennemore - R.I.P.
Y&T bass player and songwriter Phil Kennemore died early this morning due to lung cancer. He was the only other constant in the band besides lead singer/lead guitarist Dave Meniketti.
Y&T nearly broke it big in the early and mid 80's, but never quite hit the huge audiences. They had a string of great straightforward Hard Rock/Melodic Metal albums in the early 80's including Earthshaker, Black Tiger, and Mean Streak. Just last year they released a new album, Facemelter, which was pretty darned good (and which featured a lot of songs written or co-written by Kennemore). He will be missed.

Re: Phil Kennemore - R.I.P.
Loved Y&T back in the day. I've got their "Mean Streak", "In Rock We Trust", and "Best of '81-'85" albums. I saw them in 1989 with Bad Company and Vixen.

Very sad. I too loved Y&T back in the day. Spinning Mean Streak is a must today.

Damn. Knew he was ill, but sad to hear of his passing. Gotta go dig out some Y&T to listen to now.
