Re: U2 360° North American Tour

BEP had good energy in LA, and Slash coming out to do Sweet Child O' Mine with them was pretty awesome for someone that grew up watching GNR and never seeing them live.,

I have to agree. I thought BEP was going to absolute torture to sit through, but they did an excellent job working the crowd before the show. I was pleasantly surprised.

Chris, what video and audio recording devices are you using for these? Good stuff.

will.i.am giving shout outs to East LA, Montebello, El Monte etc. was pretty funny Would have been more accurate choosing West LA, Manhattan Beach and Bel Aire with that crowd.

Video: Panasonic DCM-ZS3
Audio: Sound Professional Hyper Cards>Battery Box>iRiver (Rockbox modded)

I have posted a few videos with the audio from the camera, it is very good as well. (Like the Ultra Violet video a page or so back)

I thought BEP did the best job of "warming up" as well. Got the crowds pumped big time at both shows I saw them at.

Awesome...I was hoping you would say that camera. I just bought the same Panny 2 weeks ago (had the two previous models over the last 3 years). I haven't had the chance to record any live performances with the video mode yet though. Did you use AVCHD when you recorded these?

Is there a DIY site on getting that audio setup together? Was it pretty easy to do?

Yes, I have 2 16gb SD cards, and 5 batteries. I did flash the firmware so I can use generics and bought them off eBay. I haven't had to use more than 4 so far for any show, including two shows that I taped the openers and the headliner complete.

I posted a mics for beginners post at interference.com, but it comes down to price, and what you like. I got started when I found recordings I liked, and saw what mics/recorder they used. I bought my main set up in 2001, and still use the mics (my battery box died, and I switched from a DAT to the iRiver mainly because I had it already, and it was much easier, smaller and virtually no transfer time)

I like Church Audio mics, and Sound Professional for a beginner. Mics are less than $300 and you can add the battery box, and a Edirol R-09HD for about the same...

Yeah, I'm sure they do what they do well. It's just not my bag. Probably doesn't help that I find fergi annoying as hell. Too bad she didn't piss her self on stage this time

Re: U2 360° North American Tour

will.i.am knew he was fighting an uphill battle opening for U2, so he spent a lot of time praising U2 during the act and encouraging the crowd to be more involved. And even the biggest BEP hater would have to admit that playing "I Gotta Feeling" right before U2 hits the stage is not a bad way to warm up the crowd.

In other news...

Evidently whole Fergi and TBEP were "warming up" the crowd. Her man Josh Dumell was "warming" up a stripper all night in Atlanta.

Anyone had seats that were behind the stage? How was the experience?

I was wondering about that...do they even seat people back there?

These just went on sale..... of all the times, I'm pretty much broke at this point. A few questions.... for expensive tickets like these I'd be very hesitant to buy them secondhand... thoughts on that? How are the 100 level seats? I'm assuming those are probably the most popular/expensive?

Ticketmaster was bringing up sections that are behind the stage for $30. But a person that wants to go in our group doesn't want to sit behind the stage.

I was also wondering if anyone knows if Ticketmaster releases different blocks of tickets for different presales? I have access to 2 different presales, but I got on late for the first one and all that is available now in the $95 lower bowl are tickets that are in the corner of the opposite endzone from the stage.

Re: U2 360° North American Tour

Looks like i'm gonna have to buy u2 tix from a seller, what should I look for when buying tickets from someone? Anything in particular?

edit: allright found a couple, going thru Paypal... seller has a perfect rating on ebay. Guess I'll give it a shot.

You should wait a little bit, and register on one of the U2 sites (interference or atu2.com) or even there is a U2 Ticket Trading group on yahoo. PLENTY of fans sell to other fans at face value and while the hype is big now, since the Rose Bowl You Tube thing, you might have better luck in the next few months...

Pretty lame. My nephew took me and he paid $60 a ticket. I've only seen two concerts from behind the stage, this and Springsteen. Springsteen definitely spent more time behind the stage. I'd say 85% of the show was played to the front and sides.

What are the best $95 seats in everyone's opinion? Is it sections that are next to the stage? Or further down the field?

We got tix to the Chicago show further down the field.I was GA at the Dallas show,so I wanted a different view of the stage. As for which is better,I guess if you want to be as close as you can get then next to the stage.

Re: U2 360° North American Tour

I ended up getting 100 level seats to the side of the stage... pretty happy with that.
