Re: What Are You Listening to? (July 2009) edition

Acid Casuals :
Alto due pugnali e mezzo EP
Gwydr Budr EP
Lockdown EP
Music Maschine EP

Acid Casuals have - kind of quietly - released 4 digital EPs of new material over the past few months. I originally held off buying them as they were only available through Beatport which I find to be much too expensive - especially if you want to .wav option - but I discovered they were finally available on Amazon yesterday so I got em all. Much more in the vein of what I was expecting from 'Omni' - which I loved but was far more organic than the "techno album" it was hyped up to me - very electronic blippy bleepy and delicious. Not to beat a dead horse, but if you're still sad that the SFA techno album is probably never going to surface, these will make a nice consolation prize. [I just wish there was a physical format available, those sleeves look so lovely all lined up next to each other.]

Last few days it has been:

Booker T. - Potato Hole

Love the album. Hopefully we will produce more albums.

Lately, all I've been listening to is:

The Jayhawks - Music From The North Country (Fantastic collection of most of their best stuff, and I haven't even gotten to the second disc or the DVD yet)

Sparklehorse with Danger Mouse/David Lynch - Dark Night of the Soul (A must for any Sparklehorse fan)

This has been on frequent play for me this week...

...as well as a couple of old school power pop albums I just found were recently released on CD....

The Temper Trap : Sweet Disposition

I just wish the remixes were available in the US somewhere other than Beatport who charge $1.99 per track. Oh well - gave in anyways and they're quite good.

I'm loving The Temper Trap. I've found a few remixes through http://elbo.ws

I am hooked on the Herve remix of "Science of Fear"

Re: What Are You Listening to? (July 2009) edition

I am listening to Fischerspooner's Odyssey which I had picked up years ago but only played through once. It is better than I remember.

But the track that is on repeat, repeat, repeat is jj's "Esctasy":

It's as if Belle & Sebastian did a collaboration with Lil' Jon. Immensely impressive.
