La Roux : La Roux

Still. Amazing. Serious contender for album of the year.

Also still working my way through this:

POP OVERLOAD!

It's a lot of crap remix after crap remix, but there's some gems hidden amongst the club-thumpers and shit cover versions.

Today's selection...

Scotty Don't - Songs From the Back Porch

This is the Sublime cover band Badfish. This is the outlet for their original tunes. I was friends with the drummer growing up. Pretty good cd so far. Definitely has a bit of a Sublime feel to it. It's a good driving cd as pretty much everything so far is uptempo and has a summery vibe.

really not have been listening to alot this month been busy with the SciFi Challenge, listened to the new Fabric CD series mix from Jay Haze "Fabric 47" - very housey only a couple of vocal tracks brings the mix down a little from being far from perfect.

No other band/act/artist has captured the sound of the early 80's British synthpop like La Roux has. I mean, they nailed it. Listening to the following I hear Depeche Mode, Human League, Yaz, Blancemange, Dead or Alive, Eurythmics, Heaven 17 and on and on. It's just such a fun song.

I'm also listening to the first single of the new Arctic Monkeys now. Didn't love it at first, but it's growing on me. Still listening to latest Manic Street Preachers, Gossip and Kaiser Chiefs quite a bit.

Just picked up the new Daughtry album and am giving it a spin right now.

So far it sounds like classic Daughtry.

Is this any good? I liked the first album, loved the second one - but have read nothing but bad reviews for this one. I'd like to hear the opinion of someone I trust.

I'm listening to the entire thing now on YouTube and I have to agree with you on first listen. Nothing matches the brilliance of "Bulletproof". But "As If By Magic" is pretty damn good too. I have a few more songs to listen to.

I've been listening to this quite a bit since picking it up on the Amazon deal a few days ago. It's really good.
