I just think it's great that the mono box is still available for those who want it. Limited releases like this initially was are too often scarfed up by speculators hoping to make a killing on ebay.

It's really not worth it, unless of course they had decided to include both the mono and stereo versions.

I give them a big thumbs up for using FLAC though, instead of just compressed files.

What amazes me is that they opted to do this instead of releasing their albums via an online service like iTunes or Amazon. I think they would have made more money in the long run by allowing people to buy individual albums online versus having to buy them all off a flash drive.

What makes you so certain they aren't working on iTunes and Amazon releases as well?

I am one of those that bought because of the hype.
But I put them on my i-pod and listen to them at work.

If anybody is in the OKC area and still looking for a Mono box, the south OKC best buy had three of them last night.

I won't speak for anybody else, but I listen to the remixes at least 4-5 times a week in some capacity. If I was burned out on Beatles music, it would have occurred a *long* time ago in the 28 years I've been a hardcore fan.

It is very possible you are right - My box is sitting prominently displayed on a shelf for all to see....

However, the FLAC rips and copies I made of the CD's are being utilized quite frequently by my daughter and I.

Cool, another person from Oklahoma. I kinda dated a girl that lived in Moore. She is a whore.

Anyway, I came to post that the Best Buy on N. May in OKC had 14 mono boxes yesterday when I looked. I don't have one yet but one day, one day.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

I apologize if this has been asked before, but it's a long thread for a short question, so maybe I can still get an answer.

Can you get the plastic sleeves that go over the cardboard album easily? I've spent hours listening to the mono set and I really foresee them tearing or possibly being lost at some point in my 40+ remaining years of life. Not the sleeves the cds are in, but the ones that stick and close over each album. I've never seen them before.

Also, every cd released in cardboard should come with that inner sleeve to protect against scratching. I can't believe no one else has thought of that before.

It would have saved me several angry calls to Shout! Factory to replace terribly scratched Freaks and Geeks discs if they'd spent the extra nickel and put the discs in those and then into the cardboard sleeves.

Saw 5 copies of the mono set at Costco today (along with a few hundred copies of the stereo set). It was incredibly tempting... but I decided to hold off.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but for those still looking for the Mono box set, deepdiscount shows having them in stock at a price of $209.29 shipped.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

I know the mono box-sets are available again, but I'm still too broke to buy them. Of the new remasters, I have finally bought my first - and it was Let It Be (if you give a hooty-hoot-hoot). I bought it for three reasons:

01: I had $20 to spend
02: It was intended as a Stereo release
03: I really do like this album "as a whole." When I say "as a whole," I mean as a cohesive "album." Other Beatle albums I like because of particular tracks, not because listening to the album from track 1 to the end moves me. At least, not as much as Let It Be does.

That said, I surely do wish they weren't being bastards and would release individual albums "in mono" (the ones that were intended as mono, that is). I bought Let It Be comfortable in the knowledge I wouldn't have to double-dip come the day I get the mono box-set, as Let It Be isn't a mono album and isn't included. Guess I can also buy Abbey Road without apprehension for the same reasons.

I'm dying for Past Mono Masters........I checked e-bay, but for forty dollars, I can continue to be dying for it. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can get this?

Well, it was only officially released within the box set, so the only copies of it outside of the set are either going to be pirated copies or from people breaking up the set.

It looks like all the listings currently on eBay are from people breaking up the set.

You should of bought Let It Be...Naked. A way better mix (remixed from the original tapes actually) than the 2009 remaster. It's my opinion of course.
