Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

What are the odds on a physical store like best buy having the mono sets? Seems like there are more stores than sets available, or maybe they were allotted a lot, and that's why the online stores ran out.

Put that in bargains! It's almost a $160 off the list price!

Shit! The stereo set is also now not available from Amazon. I didn't want the mono, and figured there would be no need to preorder the stereo set early.

Best Buy will undoubtedly have some deal on the stereo set.

Review copies wouldn't be numbered, would they?

Not sure. But they seem to be, from the photos, otherwise complete.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm curious about not only the numbering of the mono set but the numbering of the White Albums on both the stereo and mono sets. Certainly, the original UK vinyl releases were numbered. Also, wondering why Abbey Road has Her Majesty listed on the back cover and disc label when it was not listed on the original UK 1st pressing. I hope we eventually get Japanese Mini-LP replicas of the stereo versions of Abbey Road, Let It Be and Yellow Submarine to purchase separately with full original UK artwork (getting rid of Her Majesty) in print anyway.

The American versions of The White Album were also numbered.

I like how it has a link to financing options. Imagine financing a CD set.

Ugh... painful reminder that due to a breakup with an ex psycho, I lost a good number of CDs. I had a numbered White Album.

[opportunistic vulture mode]

I'm not a major Beatles fan, I love the little bit that I have, but I was thinking with this big release coming up, I'm going to start seeing all the older CDs at the used CD/DVD places I frequent. Are there any specific albums/versions of each album I should avoid?

thanks

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

Pretty much all of them.

I'd only recommend the EP and CD singles collection box sets... maybe the Red/Blue sets, but that's it. The others all sound pretty terrible.

August 28, 2009: So I wanted to order this today, but now the member discount no longer applies...even though it is still there on the site, and it applied to so many other folks a week ago.

I called customer service and was told sometimes policies change.

I am more than slightly ticked off!
I saw this message postage at B&N concerning the stereo box set.

EDIT:

I just did a test checkout, and the membership price was applied.

B&N's site can be glitchy at times. There have been a few times recently where I had to log-out/log-in a couple of times for the membership price to apply.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

milo bloom has already decided not to buy the new reissues, choosing to buy the older versions instead (Once they're dumped on the secondary market). I assume he simply wants to know which Beatles CDs are considered essential, and which or not.

If he isn't willing to spend a lot of money on the new box sets, I'm fairly certain that he isn't interested in spending a lot of money on an expensive box set of extended play singles.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

Ok, I'm having some trouble tracking down this info, so hopefully someone can enighten me.

What albums will NOT be included in the mono set?

Am I correct in assuming:

Yellow Submarine
Let it Be
Abbey Road

Are not included in the mono, so I should buy the seperate releases of those? Is it just those 3?

Is there anything else included in the stereo set (other than the stereo versions of the other 10 albums ; ) ) that I should be aware of, and if so can I pick it up seperatley?

Lastly, is there some place that lists disc for disc what's included in each set?

Thanks!

^ you pretty much have the gist of it.

So what are the odds of stores like Best Buy, Target or Costco getting the mono set - and how many per store?

Note that there are a few tracks on Past Masters that are not on the Mono Masters, so you'd need to pick up Past Masters as well, if you want to be a completest.
