re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

KISSONLINE.com has the entire "Modern Day Delilah" available for preview.

Catchy very catchy

not 70's KISS i dont even think id place it in the 80's KISS its still strong for a new KISS song

Guitar Solo good not great... perfect fit for the song .

What's wrong with Peter's solo on Alive?

I love the new song and the new cover. I wonder if Walmart's is going to be selling the rest of their catalog at a great price? and hey I'm pretty sure it's a given that the show at Cobo Hall will be taped so it can be released next year as Alive 5 just in time for the 35th annivisery of the first one. I can see a CD/DVD combo at Walmart's next year for sure.

New song has def grown on me. I'm digging the vibe I'm getting so far. I hope the rest of the album is as good. The cover is a lazy imitation of RARO, nothing more. It sucks, but I still can't wait to pick it up. I hope they leak a few more tracks before it hits.

Sounds good, very vintage. Hardly anyone makes rock and roll like that anymore.

Aren't Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons the only original KISS members left? I saw them on a double bill with Aerosmith a few years back and while they had Peter Criss at the time, they no longer had Ace (the original Space Ace anyway, it was a guy in make-up).

Eric looks like he's half asleep in the video, lol. I've come to the conclusion that I enjoy Gene's vocals more than Paul's. Paul sounds monotone and lifeless to me. Regardless, I've loved them since 73, so I'll pick this one up, which will be my first CD purchase since the double-live Crue disc from about 12 years ago, lol.

Yeah, Ace decided to go solo again in 2002, and Peter is, well, Peter. His drumming skills are just a shadow of what he was in 1975, and he doesn't get along with Paul and Gene.

So they went with Eric Singer (again) as he really is a great, great drummer. Tommy Thayer on lead guitar was in the band Black 'N' Blue in the 80's, and they released 4 albums on the Geffen label (the last two produced by Gene Simmons). He also was in the KISS cover band Cold Gin at the end of the 80's (a gig the guys mainly did for fun).

This is a really strong line-up musically.

Ace's reaction? "sounds like '80s KISS, not '70s KISS". source: Blabbermouth

Does anyone know why Bruce Kulick was not offered the "Ace" spot? Him and Tommy are physically very similiar.

I'd like to think he had enough class to decline the offer. I think it's downright silly to have Tommy and Eric wearing Peter and Ace's makeup.

Bruce Kulick was *NEVER* offered the Ace spot... according to him, anyhow.

Bruce would have laughed in Gene's and Paul's faces if they had asked him to dress up like Ace Frehley.

Do you think he might have gone for Vinny Vincent instead?

They'd NEVER go back to Vinnie Vincent, but they couldn't anyhow since nobody seems to know where he is.

The Ankh Warrior was so silly. They might as well try for Eric Carr's "Big Bird" persona...

Maybe true but it was much less silly than Tommy dressing up and wearing Ace's makeup. IMO

No argument there. Tommy Thayer should just dress up like a bear.

re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

i think they asked Bruce if they were to offer him a make-up role what character would he be and his reply was some sort of dog.

i remember reading about why they didnt offer him Ace's spot. he replied saying that KISS wasn't a good financial move for him because one day they could be on tour and the next they could be doing nothing.

Considering that since 2000 Bruce has been playing guitar in a lame version of Grand Funk Railroad that doesn't include Mark Farner (former lead singer, guitarist and writer of most of their hits) I don't think he would have a problem with putting on the Ace makeup.
