I have no clue. I live in butt-fuck nowhere. Our Walmart is tiny. I was there today and was also eyeing up some destroyer boxers and love gun pajama pants.

Honorable mention - I also picked up some ghostbusters pajama pants there last week..

Re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

I had a few questions that I'm hoping some fellow Kiss fans can help me with from what you've seen at your local store:

1. Which seasons of Family Jewels DVD have they been displaying and the price?
Also do they have the version of season three (if I'm not mistaken) that has the Roast?

2. What volumes of Kissology DVD have they been displaying and the price?
Also any of them including the bonus discs?

3. Have they been displaying Paul's Live To Win concert DVD and the price?

4. How is the packaging for Sonic Boom? Any issues with conditions of any of three discs
the DVD in particular?

Thanks in advance for any info you can share. Very much appreciated.

1. none at any of the wal-marts I've been to.

2. none at any of the wal-marts I've been to.

3. no

4. Not bad. No issues with me. Packaging is pretty solid.

Re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

So I saw the band perform last night at the Bank Atlantic center in Sunrise, FL. No surprises, but a great show as always.

Setlist:

Deuce
Strutter
Let Me Go, Rock N Roll
Hotter Than Hell
Shock Me
Modern Day Delilah
Calling Dr. Love
She
Tommy's gtr solo
Parasite
100,000 Years
Eric's drum solo
I Love It Loud
Black Diamond
Rock and Roll All Nite
Shout It Out Loud
Lick It Up
Love Gun
Detroit Rock City

Let's the negatives out of the way first:

- Paul's voice was pretty hit-and-miss. THANKFULLY the acoustics at the BA center are so fucking piss-poor that nobody could really notice. What I *DID* notice was that Paul didn't sing much in terms for background vocals; he strutted Paul-like around the stage while Gene, Tommy, and Eric took greater vocal-harmony roles.

- Tommy singing "Shock Me". What pissed me off about him singing Ace's signature song wasn't so much that he sang it, but because he sang it so damn well. I still don't like that he he sings it, though. Something about it just rubs me the wrong way.

- Nothing from SONIC BOOM but Delilah. I understand they gotta play toward the casual fans who just know "the hits", while still promoting the album with the lead single. Still, I would have killed to hear SAY YEAH, DANGER US, or I'M AN ANIMAL as well.

- Not really BAD, just interesting, anyway they roared the sirens and had Gene breathing fire, not for "Firehouse", but for "Hotter Than Hell"... Gene flew to the rafters for "I Love It Loud", not "God Of Thunder". I really wish I could have heard "Firehouse"!

- I wanted the show to keep going!!! But they played for a good 2 hours.

OK that having been said, the GOOD stuff:

- The stage design is impeccably awesome. The HD background screen is just perfect, as well as the "cab screens" behind the band displaying accompanying footage: b&w scenes of streetwalkers for BLACK DIAMOND, flames during "Hotter Than Hell", CGI collages of the album covers, vixens rolling around during "Modern Day Delilah", etc.

- Pyro, demolitions, fireworks were all top notch and better than I remembered.

- I was about 20ft from Paul during his "Love Gun" audience interaction.

- I SAW BILL AUCOIN! Sitting right at the soundboard with some other VIP-looking types. That was pretty cool.

- The sheer amount of hot ass was mindblowing. That concert got more ass than a rental car.

- The kids in makeup getting into it was fun to see. Paul acknowledged them in a big way.

- Ehhh pretty much everything else. I'm glad they opened with Deuce and NOT "King of the Nighttime World". Surprised they played RaRAN as the last song of the set and NOT in the encore.

Ahh I could write more but suddenly I am run over by a truck.

Nice write-up, Hokeyboy. I'm seeing them on Nov. 24th, and I'm excited to see they've been ever-so-slightly tweaking the set list... finally. Glad to see Calling Dr. Love take over for C'mon and Love Me, and they've also been replacing She with Parasite. I hope we get some more varied tunes once they hit out here. I agree it would be great to hear Gene belt out I'm an Animal, or - god willing - War Machine.

I was reading the recent GUITAR WORLD interview with Paul, and when asked about playing material off the new album, he mentioned they were only doing "Delilah" off the new album because it was the "new single on radio" and people would know it. Other than that, his attitude about playing songs off the new album seemed to be similar to his attitude was about making a new KISS record for quite awhile - that being that he didn't think there would be much interest from people in hearing it. Which I don't get at all. Granted the main argument is that the majority of people who come want to hear all the hits, and since they have so many, where do you sacrifice some of those tunes in place of newer, unfamiliar material?

Still, if you're promoting a new album, one would think you'd maybe want to familiarize the audience with some of those songs, in hopes of them then going out to buy them. They've always played more than just one new song off an album on prior tours, so why not now? Hopefully, Paul will change his mind about playing more Sonic Boom songs live, just as he changed his mind about wanting to make a new album begin with.

Yeah i thought Tours were to PROMOTE new material. Not everyone at these shows has picked up the new cd.

True, but in all honesty: it's KISS. They don't need to do much promotion outside of what they already do. Fans know the album is out there, non-fans who don't won't be at the shows anyways. I think one more track from it would be nice to see, but I'm going to hear the classic hits.

Re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

Yeah, I hear ya, but it's still a bit of a catch 22 situation. On the one hand, what's nice about going to see a band like KISS is that they do have such an extensive catalog of hits, that you generally know all the songs. On the other, say I just saw the band last year, what's to make me really want to go and see them again so soon? Usually, when a band starts touring behind a new album, it would be to hear some of the new material live. If I only wanted to hear the hits and see the band, I could throw on any number of live KISS DVDs and just watch that. I'd prefer a bit more of a reason to go back out and see them live. The other thing is that since the songs on Sonic Boom are so good, it'd be a shame not to hear more of them live. Why not give them more of a chance to become new KISS "classics"?

Personally, I feel like they should be doing "Say Yeah" or "Danger Us" (for Paul), "I'm An Animal" or "Russian Roulette" (for Gene), and also spotlight Eric and Tommy's singing contributions to the album, too. I would much rather hear "When Lightning Strikes" than "Shock Me" (especially if Ace isn't singing it), and as much as I love "Black Diamond", why not do "All For The Glory" instead. They gave those two guys that spotlight on the album, why not live, as well? THAT would be a live KISS show I'd very much like to see.

I wanted to go see them but they are coming to town tomorrow night during the Auburn-LSU game.

Don't groups know by now not to schedule a concert on a Saturday night during college football season in my state???

Re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

Normally I'd say that I don't want to hear them play too many new songs, but the new album is so good, I want to hear 4 or 5 of them! Hopefully in the future they'll believe in their music enough to play some other songs.

If they're just going to play one new song, they should switch it up a bit and play a different one each show. Especially if they're recording and selling every show.

Not bad for Sonic Boom this week, only a 35% drop and it manages to stay in the top 20 at #19 with ~ 20,000 sold for the week.

There is also word they they are working more songs from this into their set as well!

^ Yep. They played "Say Yeah" last night in Georgia...

Paul sounds off-key, but it's still cool that they're not doing the exact same set every night.

Slightly off topic but for anyone who wants to pick up Kissology vol.3 with the MSG 1996 Concert bonus DVD, Walmart.Com is still selling this version. I just got mine in the mail today!!

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=8112710

The MSG show is generally regarded as the best bonus concert of the 3 possible ones that were offered when Kissology 3 first came out. Pick it up while you can!

Re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

Scored 4 tickets yesterday in the nosebleed section for $10 each!! Our classic rock radion staion was selling the remanining upper deck tickets for $10 each for Saturday's concert. There was about a 1000 nosebleed seats left for the Target Center in Minneapolis should be close to a sell out now. Not bad seats basically straight in front of the stage 3 rows from the very top. Hopefully that video screen is big enough because otherwise I won't see shit!

BTW this will also be my sons (he is 12) first concert ever. The cheap seats allowed me to take his best friend who is a big Kiss fan.

Looking forward to a good time!

On a side note Sonic Boom actually increased in sales last week about 2% to about 20,250 sales and only dropped to #25!!

Have a great time, and don't worry; the video screen is plenty big enough.

Just pulled great tickets for tonight at the UC (Chicago). Having seen them a few times already over the years I know what to expect - and that's not a bad thing . Also seeing Buckcherry will be fun. I have not seen them since a dive place show a bit after their first album. So should be a great Friday night for me and I hope they play Say Yeah.

Re: Kiss - Sonic Boom (WALMART EXCLUSIVE 2CD/1DVD) 10/06/09

Well Buckcherry I saw in a small club and really they should stay there. Nothing wrong with them but they are not really that strong.

So...Chicago
1. Deuce
2. Strutter
3. Let Me Go
4. Hotter Than Hell
5. Shock Me
6. Dr. Love
7. Modern Day
8. Cold Gin
- Jam to Thayer Solo
9. Parasite
10. BATHROOM BREAK - NO IDEA
- drum solo - jam
- Gene solo - fly
11. Love it loud
12. Black Diamond (Stairway to Heaven tease)
13. Rock .n Roll
---ENCORE
14. Shout it out loud
15. Lick it up (with a bit of Baba O'Reilly)
16. Love Gun (Paul does his flying to the back)
17. Detroit Rock (I left then to get a cab).

Should be pretty close to the show. A total blast.

^ Thanks, sounds like a good set. I wish they'd swap out Let Me Go with God of Thunder, and they need to stop doing Shock Me, but otherwise it sounds solid. Can't wait to see them in 2 1/2 weeks!
