The title is Sky Blue Sky, not Blue Sky Blue; Pitchfork got it wrong.

Heh. Billboard got it right, but then fucked up some other details:

Wilco's new album, "Sky Blue Sky," will arrive May 15 via Nonesuch, frontman Jeff Tweedy said on stage last night (Jan. 17) during a solo show in Nashville. Among the new songs Tweedy has been playing are the title track and "We Can Make It Better."

As a full band, Wilco has also previewed the tracks "Is That the Thanks I Get," "Lullaby for Rafters and Dreams," "On and On and On" and "Walken" in the past year.

"I think people may have an idea in their head about what it will sound like, but it's going to be different than that," Wilco bassist John Stirratt told Billboard.com in November. "Jeff had a lot of creative fire. And also, the way we recorded was so cool because a lot of the arrangements just grew right there with everybody sitting around. I'm over the moon about it. I think it will be a really beautiful record. It's a great time to be in Wilco."
Wilco Soars Into 'Blue Sky' In May

"We Can Make It Better" and "Is That the Thanks I Get" are the same song, as are "Sky Blue Sky" and "Lullaby for Rafters and Dreams" - and that hasn't been played live by the full band yet. Only Tweedy solo.

Speaking of which. . .

01-19 Tulsa, OK - Cain's Ballroom
I'll be at this show tonight. Can't wait.

Hopefully this time Tweedy will focus just on the songs and not inserting 11 minute noise interludes in just to appear artsy.

I will agree, that's the track I always skip when playing Ghost, pointless wankery -- and one of the things that makes it a "B" album instead of an "A" like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. (But the awesome Live CD made up for that some)

From the new songs that I have heard, the new album will be just as great as anything they've done yet. I am a strong A Ghost is Born supporter and find it's appeal more and more with every listen, unlike YHF which tires after time. Though it didn't flow as well YHF, the tracks are classic and stand alone excellent as individuals amongst their entire catalog (I think this was proven with Kicking Television).

Yes, this is Wilco's first album as a sextet lineup including Nels Cline.

Nothing new to report on the new album, I'm afraid (other than that "The Thanks I Get" apparently won't be on it), but http://wilcoworld.net/ will be webcasting Tweedy's solo show from Charlottesville, Virginia, tonight at 9 PM Eastern.

I heard some of the new songs at his show last Saturday at the Alabama Theater. Great Show. Be Patient With Me is a great song and it will be one of Wilco's better songs if its on the new album. He played another new song called Wait Up but I don't really remember it.

Lullaby for Rafters and Dreams (This song contains a lyric where they got the name Sky Blue Sky).
Walken - Great rockin' song, they played it live when I saw them last Fall.
Impossible Germany - Great AGIBish song.

Those are my thee favorites

"Wait Up" is an old Uncle Tupelo song.

Only new songs he played in Tulsa were "Be Patient with Me" and "The Thanks I Get" (after which he said probably wouldn't be on the record).

This site has a bunch of the new tracks that they've been playing live over the last year or so.

My favorite new track, by far, is "Impossible Germany," and I like "Side with the Seeds" quite a bit as well.

I wonder if Sky Blue Sky is another name for Lullabys for Rafters and Dreams. That song contains a lyrics with the album title.

That link just made my night - "What Light" is an incredible song. Can't wait for this record and for a tour. I can't believe it's been almost 5 years since I've last seen them live.

cheers,

It's on a promo materials page on Wilco's website:

http://smartley3.wilcoworld.net/promo/

I found this interesting--the original photo was voted best overall photo in the 2005 Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. It's a peregrine falcon chasing a flock of European starlings.

More here.

Has anyone seen the promo for MHD channel that has a bunch of crows flying? Amazing in HD. The cover reminds me of that.

Studio cuts of "Either Way," "You Are My Face," and "Walken" have leaked.

I haven't heard anything Wilco's done since YHF (just got tired of them) but these are decent tracks. Seems closer to Summerteeth than the direction they were heading in with Yankee and apparently Ghost.

To me, they'll never come close to topping Being There but I may end up checking out this new album simply because of how long it's been since I listened to the band.

Wilco's website will be having a "listening party" for the new album (in it's entirety) starting at 10:00 Central this evening.

I know where I'll be tonight, alright. . .
