I think 256kbps MP3 would be better than 128kbps AAC anyway.

Absolutely the best deal I've seen so far. Good thing I have the Complete Zep boxset otherwise I'd be so in.
Also 6/2 (Monday): Pinkerton by Weezer - $1.99

In light of the Zeppelin dealio, I've cross-posted these two albums to Hot Deals.

If I already have that 4-disc box set, is there any reason to buy this?

DRM-free tracks on iTunes are 256kbps AAC.

Holy hell. That is a fantastic deal for what continually proves to be Weezer's shining moment. Too bad I already own it.

I did, however, buy the Led Zeppelin album, since I've been meaning to make legitimate purchases of a lot of those songs for some time now.

Keep up the great work! This is fast becoming my favorite thread in the music forum.

This thread freakin' rocks...I've recently dabbled with Amazon's dl service and find it really easy to use and a bit cheaper than iTunes (which I still pledge allegiance to of course...)

^I thought that was Monday's deal. There isn't a different one for Tuesday?

Monday's DOTD was Mothership by Led Zeppelin for $4.99, which is still up currently. The Weezer album also was available yesterday, but I don't know if it was an official DOTD.

Some deals I found:

Unfold by Marié Digby - $1.99

Ghosts I-IV by Nine Inch Nails - $5.00

In Utero [Explicit] by Nirvana - $4.98

The two following comedy albums are technically only two tracks, but considering each "track" is an entire side of the album...

Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers by The Firesign Theatre - $1.98

I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus by The Firesign Theatre - $1.98

The Zeppelin deal was great, picked that up. I heard back from the mod and they weren't in favor of stickying the thread so we'll just have to try and make sure we keep it visible.

I'd be interested if they had more pop albums at a discount.

why won't the mods make this a sticky? it seems as informative as the "free magazines" thread in Hot Deals to me...can we sign a ballot or something? write a poem? mail peanuts? what?

I'd actually prefer it not-stickied.

It's going to get bumped when something new is added anyway. I think it's easier to notice when it moves around.

would it be a "threadcrap" if Amazon only put Madonna and Beyonce cd's on sale and a rock fan asked if they're ever going to put some rock on there? Not all pop fans are teenagers hang out at the mall.

Anyways, some great deals to be had so far, except I already had just about every cd they've had a steal on that appeals to me (Zeppelin, George Harrison, Weezer, Al Green, etc....)

My current thinking also but I have it under review.

For those wishing to talk about alleged threadcraps, please take a few deep breaths.... and then think about letting go. There's really no need to take this off-topic because of ego.

It looks like Amazon may actually discount the DOTD titles at least a day in advance sometimes. I found a few deals that may be part of Friday's $5 DOTD:

In Rainbows by Radiohead - $5.00

Dreaming Out Loud by OneRepublic - $5.00

Accelerate by R.E.M. - $5.00

Hotel California by Eagles - $5.00

Some other deals:

Music by Carole King - $5.59

Frank Sinatra Sings Rodgers & Hammerstein by Frank Sinatra - $4.99

This is so excellent. I hope that this prompts Apple to fallow suit. Perhaps the labels will see their digital sales really spike with these discounts and see that they can sell a LOT more with lower prices. Ah, who am I kidding?
