Your Favorite Albums by Year: 1970-1979

I eventually want to cover most of the past 50-60 years, and I guess the 70s is a logical next point.

Formatting for the lazy:
Spoiler:
HTML Code:
1970 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1971 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1972 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1973 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1974 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1975 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1976 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1977 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1978 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]
1979 : [b][/b] — [i][/i]

1970 : Simon & Garfunkel — Bridge Over Troubled Water
1971 : The Doors — L.A. Woman
1972 : Nick Drake — Pink Moon
1973 : Gram Parsons — G.P.
1974 : Kraftwerk — Autobahn
1975 : Neu! — Neu 75
1976 : Jorge Ben — Αfrica Brasil
1977 : Talking Heads — Talking Heads: 77
1978 : Culture — Harder Than the Rest
1979 : Pink Floyd — The Wall

Almost all of these albums I started listening to in the last 1 or 2 years (exceptions: L.A. Woman, The Wall). And some of the critically acclaimed "great" albums (Songs in the Key of Life, London Calling) I have but have only listened to a handful of times.

This list will probably be very different in a year or two, since I'll be cribbing your lists for recommendations.

Cheating perhaps on 1978, as that awesome show was officially released in 2006. Next choice would be Radio Birdman - Radios Appear

Surprised at the lack of Sabbath, Zeppelin, Faces, and Rod Stewart but it reinforces just how awesome rock n roll was in the 70s.

Your 1975 section is intriguing. How many times do you listen to MMM? I mean... really.

Reading thru this thread reminds me of the days where artists put out a new album every year or so. I wish that was still the case.

Pass. The problem with a list like this, for me, is that there's about 20 albums from 1971 I like a lot more than pretty much every release from 1979.

You'd be surprised. I have more noise CD's than most people have regular albums.

You don't think the rest of us have similar situations?

I have the opposite problem. My second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth choices for '79 (Unknown Pleasures, Armed Forces, Entertainment!, Squeezing Out Sparks, and Metal Box) would each top nearly every other year.
