Cam'ron defends Stop-Snitching Code

http://www.mp3.com/news/stories/9365.html

In an interview with 60 Minutes to air on Sunday night, the rapper tells correspondent Anderson Cooper that his code of ethics would prevent him helping police solve a case, even if he knew that there was a serial killer living next door to him.

"If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me?" Cam'ron--real name Cameron Giles--responded to a hypothetical question posed by Cooper. "I wouldn't call and tell anybody on him--but I'd probably move. But I'm not going to call and be like, 'The serial killer's in 4E.' "

Snitching to the police, even on a serial killer, would violate Giles' "code of ethics," he said, and it would also be bad for his business.

Yeah, most rappers feel this way.

Busta Rhymes, for one.

It's sad to think that shitheads like this are likely to influence many rap fans to adopt a similar stance.

Ironic that Cooper would be interviewing him, since he has his own "don't tell" policy.

So, did anyone see this last night? It's one of the saddest things I think I've ever seen on TV. They even interviewed some kids in a church group who would never snitch. The ignorance is stifling.

So, if a member of his family was murdered and someone knew who the killer was, he should just keep his mouth shut.

I guess if these guys don't mind killers in their midst, let them off each other. I have no problem rolling over on someone who commits a crime such as murder.

"Stop Snitchin'" - an all new low

I hope, and pray that i live long enough to one day see this "thug" rap music completely extinguished and eradicated and forgotten, forever. It would actually be one of the best things that could ever happen to our country. Its never going to happen though.

What a disgusting, vile disease infecting the youth of america, both black and white. Its embarassing and humiliating, in my opinion, to the entire world, that we have to live with this in our culture. Its revolting and sad. Its sad that the music companies are making millions off of this trash.

But, lately . . . , they have decided to take it to an all new level with the stop snitchin stuff. In case you havent seen what this is all about, its a new movement in the rap circles that preaches to never ever tell police about a crime under any circumstances - its actually MORE WRONG to tip off the police about a murderer than it is to let someone be murdered.

WTF!!!!!???

They even had one famous rapper on the news, and they asked him "if you knew someone next door to you was a mass murderer, and he was killing people, would you tell the police?"

"Nope, id rather just move" - he says

I cant believe that I live in a country where it is normal, and perfectly ok, and mainstream for there to be music/media that glorifies and blatantly promotes crime, murder and drugs. I feel really sorry for idiots that have bought into it. Actually, i take that back - i dont feel sorry for you, the chances are that your days are numbered anyways.

I just want to try to get on with my life and ignore this as best as possible, but its hard to when its everywhere. Its just so amazing that a massive amount of people have bought into a lifestyle and a mentality that has a complete and total disregard and disrespect for human life and decency.

Who else feels like this?

Fuck'em. Let the inner city dipshits allow killers to off each other. They'll either grow up and see how stupid it is, or they'll be dead and in a gutter by the time they hit 30.

Quite simply, they should not be allowed to live or breed.

There should be a reality show in which every "thug" is told he will be given anything he/she wants if they are the sole survivor of the "thugs". Then, after they've killed each other, we renege (no pun intended) on the deal and kill the "winner". Problem solved.

Caught a bit of the CNN Anderson Cooper story last night, and this blew my mind. Some police analyst (at least, that's who I think he was) was saying that in some neighborhoods, less than 10% of crimes are solved due to this "stop snitchin'" mindset, and that, for all intents and purposes, law no longer exists in these neighborhoods.

Shameful. And fucking scary.

Yeah I started watching it and had to turn it as it was pissing me off so much... Any Shaprton or Jackson commentary on this? Seems to be at least as important as anything a no-talent hack like Imus says.

Revs. Al and Jesse do not usually speak out against things that will alienate a large portion of their community. They tend to stick to things that everyone will support them on.

There is some validity to this though not to protect a murderer. I would never turn someone in for commiting a consensual crime (drugs, gambling and the like) but protecting a murderer or rapist is just stupid.
