Nickelback = boring and conservative

Is Nickelback for real? They must be one of the most boring and conservative bands around right now. Their lyrics are mush, their music is moronic, and their image is the same old same old. One wonders how much lower popular music can go. Where are all the creative bands that used to be around?

There's definitely not enough gay porn in my Nickelback.

Another vote for liking Nickelback. Not my favorite, but surely something not bad that I enjoy every time some of their stuff randomly pops up on the playlist.

I've been waiting for this topic to come up in a way that I can contribute without threadcrapping. Everytime I hear (or hear about) Nickelback, for some reason I'm reminded of a band with a similar name that, IMHO, outclasses Nickelback six ways to Sunday: Nickel Creek. I mean, who else can do a song about Tom Bombadil that you don't need to be high to appreciate.

I just want to put that out there.

Nickel Creek

Nickelback are OK by me. I'm not a fan of their ballad-type-slow songs, but their heavy stuff is cool. Even in Portugal.

Yup. I don't think Nickelback is that bad of a band honestly and I do like a couple of their songs. But the singles are way too similar. Hell, you can exchange the lyrics for "How You Remind Me" with "Savin' Me" and it'll still be the same song.

Who the fuck cares if they're "conversative"? Why does that matter at all?

I took it as "conservative" in the artistic sense, not the political sense.

I like 'em as do most of my friends who are decidedly NOT people who like crappy music. The key is getting past the terrible ballads that they play non-stop on the radio. I haven't been disappointed by one of their CD's yet.

Again, who cares? I hate the elitist attitude that all music has to be "artful". The hell with that. Music has to be fun to listen to and enjoyable.

I'm sorry, it's not just the ballads. This band is everything that is wrong with music. This band is the reason why so many artists don't get their dues, becuase people are too busy swallowing this brainless drivel and record labels are paying attention. So radio stations don't play good music because labels are paying them big bucks to play shit. People in turn give the label money to sign more bands that sound exactly the same, like theory of a dead man or default. Most of the people I've ever met who listen to this band have no artistic skills of any kind or a knowledge of music at all. There's a big musical world out there....time to explore

Trust me, I'm very musically diverse and I like plenty of the obscure bands that it's "cool" to like. I just also think that a lot of people discount decent music because it's trendy to dislike the band. I'm not saying that's you, because musical tastes certainly differ and I'm sure you legitimately don't like them. Saying that one band is killing music is certainly extreme.

In the future though, you probably shouldn't judge someone's lack of musical knowledge on one band.
