I've only listened to the Broken remaster (WAV files), but it sounds excellent to me.

There's a difference between loud and brickwalled. It's loud, it's not brickwalled.

I haven't heard the remasters for myself so I won't write them off, but I never really thought to myself I wish they'd remaster the NIN catalog.

Pretty Hate Machine benefited quite a bit from the remaster, especially with the lower bass notes. I'm interested in hearing the new releases, because I agree with you that the others seemed pretty good already.

I do have that on CD. I agree that one needed some help in the low end.

This is an interesting link in which Reznor says it was "not a remastered release".

Honestly if these new remasters were released on CD I'd probably buy them. I like having real CD's for my top artists, which is why it's kind of a bummer the new EP won't have one. I don't know what the "physical component" is going to be but I doubt it's a CD.

I ordered TDS and Broken. Nice that they both come with hi-res downloads as well. I also noticed that a 2017 vinyl release of Year Zero is listed as coming soon. That's my favorite NIN album, so I'm very keen for that release.

So you're the one.

YZ is pretty good, but Capital G always stuck out like a sore thumb for me. Lyrically, it's more relevant than ever (we're so fucked...) but I never liked the way Reznor sings it.

I never had any issues with that song in particular, except that it seems odd in this concept album about the future to be singing a song that is named after a specific president (I guess it could have been called Capital W and been even more on the nose).

There were two new releases of PHM. The one that Reznor did himself, with the grey album cover and Get Down, Make Love tacked on the end, that was remastered. The second one was just a rerelease of the original album, done without his input. The article isn't very clear.

Thanks for the info. They must have both come out fairly close together, no?

I definitely have the one with the different cover and the extra track. I probably read the news at the time and steered clear of the other release but I can't remember.

Does the non-remastered re-release of PHM have the original pinkish cover art then? I too never realized there was a second "remastered" version of the album and I never got around to checking out the "grey" cover actual remastered version. PHM is one of my favorite discs.

Thanks. Can't tell why, but auto's link still doesn't work when I click it.

I just ordered the 2010 remastered version.

Anyone else get their "physical component" of Not The Actual Events this week?
It's umm... yeah. Messy.
Pretty sure there's no underlying ARG with this. Rather, just a unique package to look at.
I'll post pics if anyone cares.

Just started listening to "Not the actual events" yesterday - really like it a lot - they sound re-charged.

Trent low key announced today that Not the Actual Events was the first part of a trilogy of EPs, the second volume should be released before their summer shows that kick off 7/23 and the final part planned to come out 6-8 months after that.

Cool...maybe he'll release them on physical media sometime in the near future as well.

Neat video. Not in love with the song yet, but give it time.

re: NIИ - Nine Inch Nails - Discussion Thread [part two]

Pretty good song. Reminds me of stuff from With-a Teeth-a. And maybe The Slip.
Although, I'm a little... bored?... of Trent's lyrical structure / rhyming...
But the song is solid.

There's a new EP to go with that song, too. July 21st.
ADD VIOLENCE
01. LESS THAN
02. THE LOVERS
03. THIS ISN'T THE PLACE
04. NOT ANYMORE
05. THE BACKGROUND WORLD

re: NIИ - Nine Inch Nails - Discussion Thread [part two]

New EP is pretty good although the last six minutes on track 5 are a complete waste of what was an excellent song.

Kind of wish he just released all of these on one album but I see why he didn't as they are just too different overall to be on the same album.

Looking forward to the third installment.
