Morrissey Who Put the “M” in Manchester? DVD Live at Earls Court CD
Both available tomorrow. For those fortunate enough to screen the concert in HD 5.1 DD, would like to hear from you. The screenings are tomorrow night, but unfortunately won't be able to see it....
Morrissey Who Put the “M” in Manchester? (Attack/SVE) DVD Live at Earls Court (Attack/Sanctuary) CD Two Live experiences, coming March 29 in the USA and April 4th in Europe March 21, 2005 "Leave it to the trickster dandy of British rock to make a return in his own, eccentric way...[the live show] was a typical Morrissey paradox: an ironic religious experience" - Rolling Stone, June 10, 2004 "No one can sing a swooning ballad over a straight-ahead punk-inspired riff the way Morrissey can; few other singers would be brave (or foolish) enough to try...he is an extraordinary performer and never runs out of ways to tease his fans." - New York Times, May 6, 2004 "Mozzy! Mozzy! Mozzy! chanted the sellout crowd...he was the same playful, pugnacious, preening dandy, extending his jaw to a hostile world, taking a hit and then striking back with lines of lacerating wit." - Los Angeles Times, April 20, 2004 Morrissey had the busiest year of his career in 2004, with You Are the Quarry becoming his most successful CD ever, with four singles going top ten in the UK and US radio embracing his two single releases stateside. He graced countless magazine covers, performed on television and took “the show on the road,” with a sold out world tour. On the heels of the tour, which wrapped up in December 2004, Morrissey is releasing a live DVD and CD, both of which capture a different facet of the tour. The DVD, Who Put the “M” in Manchester? (Attack/Sanctuary Visual Entertainment), was filmed May 22, 2004 shortly after the release of You Are the Quarry at his now legendary homecoming/birthday show in Manchester, England. The DVD showcases not only the album, but includes both Morrissey and Smiths classics. The concert was filmed by Bucky Fukumoto from A/V Club, who also directed Morrissey's three music videos for this album, all of which are included as DVD extras. The CD, Live at Earls Court, captures the end of the tour and was recorded over the final 5 sold out dates in London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Brighton and Dublin this past December. The CD will have a different track listing from the DVD and will also include additional never before performed b-sides as well as rarely performed Morrissey and Smiths classics. Track listing for Who Put the "M" in Manchester? DVD: First of the Gang To Die Hairdresser on Fire Irish Blood, English Heart The Headmaster Ritual Everyday Is Like Sunday I Have Forgiven Jesus I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel? I saw the concert at Asbury Park, NJ .. and I'll remember it as one of my alltime favourite live shows. Morrissey was just phenomenal .. the band kicked ass, and the audience was amazing - adoring and utterly devoted. So I'll be picking up the live DVD, fersure.

I tried to buy the DVD at Best Buy since I saw the DLP screening of the concert last night at Rio's - to watch the Move Festival portion, but no such luck. Washington DC's Best Buy sucks raw eggs.

Morrissey threw a rose into the crowd, hence the pose on the cover.

Are there regular jewel case editions of the live CD out there on the shelves?
I would have bought this today, except for the fact that the only edition available was in an oversized cardboard digi-pak. I will not get burned again like I did with the studio album.

Picked it up today. They only had the one size. Maybe they'll put it in normal packaging in a few months when they add a bonus disc to get everyone to buy it again.

DOH! There was no other option at the BB I visited. I asked and they said that was it. Just opened the thing too.

WOW! I was thrown back by how impressive the video quality was, and the DD 5.1 and DTS signal. Definately ![]() |

This was shown in HD last month. With some luck we may get this concert as an HD-DVD or Blue Ray release in the near future.
DTS DD 5.1 DD 2.0 Widescreen Anamorphic 1:78:1 Highly Recommended! |

My DVD finally arrived yesterday from DDD. This was worth the wait. Very impressive audio track. The performance is just stellar. I never thought he'd revisit the Smiths catalog and he tackles all of the material with everything he's got. Wish I could have been at the show. That must have been an amazing experience. Very smart to release a live CD from differnt shows and different tracks. Wish more artists would do this.

Finally got the CD in the mail yesterday from DDCD. Took only 2 freaking weeks.
This CD rules. The sound quality is amazing, almost as good as Beethoven Was Deaf, but not quite. The track listing is great and Morrissey's voice is really strong. The packaging might suck, but I urge all to look past that. It's a great disc. |

The only thing I didn't particularily care about the performance was the nitwits who try to touch/shake hands with Morrissey during the show, the cameramen/editors made those awkward moments stick out like sore thumbs.

Just a heads-up for those without the DVD (like myself) that VH1 Classic will be showing the "Who Put the 'M' in Manchester" today at 1 pm and again at 1 am. I'm sure it'll be chopped up, given the 1 hour run time (with commercials), but I'll still be watching it to gauge whether or not I want to put $$$ down on the DVD.
