He falls into the same category as Air Supply. Even if the guy was a hunk, the style of music just wasn't going to fly during the MTV years. Only hot women continued to be successfull in that genre.

I believe the term du jour for him and others like him is "yacht rock". That's a new one to me but seems to fit.

I call it "dentist rock" because I have very vivid memories of stuff like Cross, Air Supply and Hall on Oates on seemingly endless rotation on the radio station they always played at the dentist when I was a kid. And I spent a LOT of time in that chair "Sailing" under novocaine and the like....

Bryan Adams specifically requested AllMusic remove all reviews of his albums/body of work, because they weren't quite flattering of him. Strangely, they complied with this request.
