...and of course it's nice to see Nick's wife (model Susie Bick) grace the cover of the new album. Wonder who's idea that was

Nick Cave and Tom Waits are the only artists that have had long careers that have never put out a bad album that I can think of. Even the greats like Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Lou Reed had the 1980's.

Jubilee Street is amazing Live. I saw him last year in a shitty venue that I boycotted forever
horrid acoustics, but I yielded for Nick. I thought they fixed the acoustics given how good the show was.

Then seeing him at the Warfield reinforced how terrible the Bill Graham is. Boycott back on!

Nocturama was pretty bad. I would say Peter Gabriel hasn't had a bad album of original material (I'm just going to forget that Scratch My Back exists).

I have been listening to Push the Sky Away and really loving it. I feel a tad late to the Nick Cave party(just 30 yrs ). Always heard his name, but hadn't heard anything by him, until now. Just wondering where I should go to next with his albums?

Excellent question. I have a soft spot for "The Good Son" as that was my introduction to Nick Cave. "From Her to Eternity", "The Boatman's Call", "Let Love In", and "Murder Ballads" are all essential listening. If that's too much at once, the definitely pick up "The Best of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds" which is a good overview of the catalog up through "The Boatman's Call".

I LOVE The Good Son, very soulful. I'd recommend that, Henry's Dream, Let Love In, and The Boatman's Call. From there you can kind of go hog wild.

I never buy "Best Of's". I love to hear albums as they were, with the good and the not so.

Thanks for the recommendations guys

I still listen to Boatman's Call frequently and it's the album I probably listen to the most as a full album.

All of them. I first paid attention to Nick Cave after hearing his name when "The Proposition" was released. Before that, never heard of him. Better late than never.

Here are the albums that I'm totally attached to. Beginning to end, these albums are sooo good.

1984 : From Her to Eternity
1986 : Kicking Against the Pricks
1988 : Tender Prey
1990 : The Good Son
1992 : Henry's Dream
1996 : Murder Ballads
2004 : Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus
2007 : Grinderman
2008 : Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
2010 : Grinderman 2

Here are the albums that have good tracks. But I don't feel like I've really broken them in...

1985 : The Firstborn Is Dead
1986 : Your Funeral... My Trial
1994 : Let Love In
1997 : The Boatman's Call
2001 : No More Shall We Part
2003 : Nocturama
2013 : Push the Sky Away

I got see him in Philadelphia last Friday and it was probably one of the best shows I've ever seen. The man has insane energy and the crowd just loves him.

Agreed. I saw him in Los Angeles a few weeks ago at the Shrine. He has such magnetism as a performer that he almost doesn't need to ask for your attention, he already knows he has it, yet not in a selfish way. Too many amazing moments to recount, but "Higgs Boson Blues" and "Stagger Lee" were both off the charts in terms of intensity.

Jubilee Street was the second song of our set and he captivated the whole place with the explosive ending and really didn't let go till the last note of the encore. Every song was like a set closer in its intensity. Really just at the top of his game... though I'm sure there are some who saw him back in the day and might not agree with that.

I saw him on the Nocturama tour at the Palladium. I was probably 10 feet from the stage, and Cave was just on fire the whole time (especially during the song "Babe, I'm On Fire" ). He also brought out Chris Bailey of The Saints, which introduced me to that band as well.
