QOTSA's "Songs for the Deaf"

Ok I first heard "No One Knows" on the radio about 6 months ago, and I thought it was a pretty good tune. It was catchy, it had some nice vocals and some pretty cool riffs. It wasn't until last month that I bought "Songs for the Deaf", and man am I glad I bought it. I didn't know what to expect because I had only heard one song. I popped the cd in my car and cruised around while listening to it. The first 3 songs just blew me away, but it took me a little while to get used to the rest of the album. After a few listens "Songs for the Deaf" totally grew on me, and I still listen to it almost every day. Definitely one of the best cd's of last year, if not the best. My favorite songs on this album are "First it giveth", "Song for the deaf", "Go with the flow", "Sky is Fallin'", "No one knows", and "Song for the dead". What do you guys think about it?

I think it's a really good album. I just got Trail of Dead's first two albums recently so I've been listening to them pratcially non stop so I haven't listened to QOTSA in a while.

Yeah, I just saw them open for RHCP a few weeks ago and they're great.

The latest single is Go With the Flow.

pick up their last album "Rated R".

It's fantastic and has a baby blue cover with nothing but
the letter "R" on it.

It should have a decent price on it as well.

I had the same experience...heard 'no one knows' and thought it was good, but didn't expect the album to be the best of last year. Great stuff. They've already written an album that will be recorded and released early next year, so i guess we'll have to enjoy 'songs' and earlier albums till then.

I bitch and moan on these threads about how much rock music (on the radio that is) really sucks today. Hate that Linkin Park-like caca. Thank God for a band like Queens. Great album.

Yea I hear ya, I used to be one of those whiners. I really think there are a lot of good bands out there, you just have to really look for them because they are harder to find than ever before. And yes thank god for Queens.

I love listening to the D-jays just praise the guys. A couple of weeks ago Jed the fish( KROQ in LA) just went on a rant about how great they were because you can't compare them to anyone. He said well those guys sound like Linkin Park/ Korn or Green Day / Offspring but when QOTSA is brought up you draw a blank. Every band in the world wants to be the band where you can't define or compare thier music to anyone elses

Queens of the Stone Age are awesome, one of my top 10 favorite bands. EVER. Songs for the Deaf is great but the only thing that bothers me about it are the stupid radio bits. They should have gotten rid of that crap. Anyway, it's still one of the best albums of last year and the second best QOTSA album. (after R). QOTSA are one of the very few bands that I enjoy that get regular airplay on the radio and MTV.

God sent the Queens of the Stone Age to save American rock 'n roll.

I actually bought Songs for the Deaf on a blind buy last year after hearing some of Rated R. I absolutey love both albums now - they both get regular play in my rotation. What excellent driving music.

songs for the deaf is definitely one of my most favorite hard rock albums. i never really liked anything else by QOTSA. couldn't quite get into the whole rated R album, thought the lyrics were a little cheesy.
