Mariah either chooses not to use this range or she can't sustain the range as she used to before via the dog whistle. Perhaps, she is more comfortable with the breathless whisper because she is leaning more toward r&b/hip hop these days than before when she was more pop/r&b. If you listen to Mariah's debut album and her voice now, it's so clearly evident. Although the old dog whistle voice will creep up here and there like such as the new single "Make it through the rain" it is overshadowed by the breathless whisper. I preferred her old style though at times her voice went to the upper levels of a dog whistle.

heard an advvance copy of the album yesterday. i hated it!! luckily, it was a free copy from a reporter friend of mine. not one song caught my attention.

I haven't heard this yet but all the commericals I see for it have music similar to the vision of Light album...probably remaking her image back to the original image which, according to mariah, was not who she really was. She was a butterfly and a ho, but now she's a gospel thing again, because it really is who she is..or something.

I'm tired.
