Based on recent experience, I would add that, in common with mods on the other forums, I cannot condone when people enter a thread purely to slam a particular topic or poster while adding nothing of relevance to the thread/forum.

So, if you see a thread with an oblique reference to religion (or whatever) and you are an avowed anti-religionist (or whatever), just back out of the thread.

You can always go to Other and start or join a debate there.

If you spot someone posting in an overly abrasive fashion, please report the post as opposed to piling in and further derailing the thread. This makes clean-up operations simpler and, more importantly, shows respect to the threadstarter and others who have stayed within the spirit of the issue being discussed.

If it needed to be said, it is not acceptable for members to post links to pages or videos where the content is Not Safe For Work without a suitable warning/tag. Embedded videos of that ilk are strictly forbidden.

There are certain sites and topics which for a long time have been disallowed completely. You may find discussions of these in Feedback.

I do not propose to define "NSFW". Anyone with commonsense will appreciate what is included. And those who either lack or choose not to use commonsense will not be missed.

Members already known to moderators generally for pushing the envelope as to what is this or that side of the line will be regarded as intentionally seeking a permanent suspension of their posting priviliges should questionable pictorial/video content be included or linked to in Music Talk posts. I would imagine that a similar approach will be taken on other DVDTalk forums.

Unless people are actually talking about the music, where I spot them I am closing down all iPod - and similar - threads posted to Music Talk.

This is line with my note here concerning purely software issues of two years ago and followed discussion among the more senior mods at that time and earlier.
I'll pull this one down as a timely reminder because we're seeing some tech posts again and I don't really want to be locking or moving where I can avoid it.
