Hmmmmm....

An ALL Sabbath Special Edition.

I like it.

It may be a few weeks, but I really like that idea - Sabbath was the first TRUE Heavy Metal band, so they are DEFINITELY deserving.

I'll start coming up with the track listing tonight....

Up now - some GREAT Metal and Hard Rock...

Erik's Metal Shop #22 is up now!

I've got B.O.C, Ozzy, Montrose, Saxon, Y&T, Iced Earth, a rare live KISS track, and more!

Check it out!

http://www.hitekradio.com/erikshop.htm

It's the "current program."

(If your connection isn't real fast then the show will download into your Real Player's temporary files and play once the download is complete. The Windows Medis Player should play right away, but the sound quality isn't quite as good as the Real Player version - very close though!)

Tribute to the Gods IS a great disc. The Iced Earth box set is a great package, too.

I've played a lot of Iced Earth on the show over the last 6 months.

Anyone who likes traditional Hard Rock and Heavy Metal should check out this show - I'm really happy with it. And the next one is VERY cool - a two part all Black Sabbath special!

Black Sabbath!

The two-part ALL BLACK SABBATH special edition of Erik's Metal Shop is up now! (Show #24a & 24b - current/new program.)

I've got some really cool stuff on this show - the first single Black Sabbath ever recorded (not released on any U.S. album), a live track with Ian Gillan, live tracks with Tony Martin, and GREAT album cuts with Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio, Gillan, Glenn Hughes, and Martin!

I purposely avoided the obvious, overplayed Sabbath tracks and went for other songs that are just as good as (or better than) the well known songs that get all the radio airplay.

Do not miss this show! The ORIGINAL Heavy Metal band gets their due on Erik's Metal Shop:

I'm curious - who is your favorite Black Sabbath singer/vocalist?

Personally I'm partial to Ronnie James Dio.

If you haven't really heard ALL of the guys who sang for Sabbath you can now if you listen to the show - I've got songs featuring all of the full-time vocalists that have been in Sabbath (who have done at least a whole album and some live shows - that just barely gets Glenn Hughes on the list, and leaves Ray Gillen off...)

I love Gillan on Born Again. I think it's a very underrated album.

Best Sabbath singers? My top three...

1. OZZY - he's the man. The version of 'Sab he was in was the definitive one.

2. Tony Martin - "Headless Cross" is a guilty pleasure of mine. Likely heresy to say this. Great cheese-metal. Sounds like a cross between early Queensryche and Paul DiAnno-era Maiden.

3. Dio - some goods songs from his era, but I don't think he really worked that well with the band. Should've -- but didn't.

My favorite Tony Martin era albums are The Eternal Idol and Cross Purposes.

Tony Martin is a perfect fit with Sabbath, and was Dio I.M.O. Ian Gillan actually worked out well, and Glenn Hughes did a good job on Seventh Star. Of course, Ozzy was Ozzy.

Like I said, Dio is my favorite Sabbath singer, but Tony Martin is not far behind.

Paul Stanley's original demo version of "God Of Thunder"

On show #26 of Erik's Metal Shop I've got the original Paul Stanley demo of "God Of Thunder."

He intended that song to be his signature song, but the producer for Destroyer, Bob Ezrin, decided to slow it down and have GENE SIMMONS sing it instead. You can hear Paul's original version on the show, along with classic Metallica from Master Of Puppets, Yngwie Malmsteen, Motorhead, Deep Purple, EZO, Blaze, and more!

Check it out:

http://www.hitekradio.com/erikshop.htm

It's the "current program," and it's up now!

Rare live UFO, and a Hard Rock cover of a U2 song...Some great Heavy Metal, too...

Erik's Metal Shop #27 is up now!

Show #27 features a semi-rare live UFO track from 1976, a song from Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhoads (something NOT played to death), Dee Snider's post Twisted Sister band (good stuff), Megadeth, Katmandu (featuring Fastway's Dave King - a great Hard Rock cover of a U2 song), a great underground band (REALLY good stuff), Bruce Kulick, and MORE!!!

Check it out - it's the "current program."

So what did you think of the Katmandu cover of "God Pt II?"

Personally, I love it, but I'm sure it's not "Heavy" enough for a few Metal fans - but I played it anyway because it's just so damn cool!

Something for Metal and Hard Rock fans to listen to while posting here...

Erik's Metal Shop now has 30 shows up to listen to whenever you like.

Show #30 features Rob Halford, Armored Saint, KISS, Accept, a couple underground bands (one from the late 80's, another from the early 90's), and more. It's available now under the "current program" link.

Show #29 features a classic Judas Priest song, a song from Pantera's hard to find Power Metal (1988) CD with Phil Anselmo, a song from Sweet, AC/DC, and more. Show #29 is available under the "previous programs" link.

Check it out...

http://www.hitekradio.com/erikshop.htm

It really is worth giving a listen to...

WOW!

It's interesting to see all of those posts put together. I figure that with 30 shows, and two 2-part shows I've played at least 242 songs on the show, and NONE of them have been played twice.

Show #31 will be up next week, and it will be an ALL COVER TUNE special. Some pretty cool stuff will be played on that show, so don't miss it.

Once again, I appreciate all of the comments that I've gotten about the show, and I encourage requests - so post them here or e-mail me from the link on the site.

Thanks!
