You don't know - just 'cause she makes crappy music doesn't mean she likes crappy music. Maybe she feels that since all music has sold out, that the most rebeliious thing that she can do is to be as sold out as possible, just to show the world what crap really is!

punk has gone down for some time now. its really a shame. its a trendy thing, the whole punk scene and what they consider punk rock bands now a days sucks arse. Joey ramon would be spinning in his grave.
blink182 Punk? they're not that bad, but they sure as hell aren't punk.
atleast bad religion is still around and we have one last album from joey to look forward to. other then that, I consider punk to be dead..
Johnny rotten was right in saying "You ever get the feeling you've been cheated?"

I thought http://www.hottopic.com/ was proof that punk rock was trendy.
Personally I think Blink is pretty good and punk rock. Punk can be poppy (Ramones, buzzcocks, Vibrators, Descendents). They're not my favorite, but I like them, and will be seeing them play (hopefully) when they tour with Green Day this summer.

Oh come on, it's not like I sit and listen to Blink & Sum 41 on constant rotation all day. I certainly don't consider those guys punk but I also enjoy them the same. Depends on the mood.

Pop-Rock?
that's usually bands like:
Matthew Sweet & Teenage Fanclub
Power Pop?
I think that more adequately describes a band like
Jimmy Eat World or Weezer?
In my opinion they (Sum & Blink) are punk. If you want to call them pop-punk, that's cool, but they are definately punk. Their roots are firmly grounded in punk music... though the poppier/melodic side, rather than the harder, faster side.
I never get why people have a problem calling them punk. The Ramones were one of (if not THEE) first band to be called punk rock. They are extremely poppy.

PS - Have you ever heard the "Linoleum" cover by Shai Hulud? Or heard the new-ish As Friends Rust "Won" album?

Where do the Strokes fall? they sound something like the ramones no?
blatant rip-off if you ask me but you didn't
I also think Jimmy Eat World spent a lot of time listening to Fergal Sharkey and the Undertones while younger

The Strokes are sorta proto-punk... or they sound like proto-punk. I'd still consider them punk.
If you want to hear a blatant Ramones rip off check out The Huntingtons (They're a Christian band... so imagine the Ramones singing about Jesus... )

Yeah, actually I'd say they sound nothing like the Ramones.

You are right about the protopunk thing I guess. I don't think they are really ripping anyone off. Lets face it, the bands they are most often compared to are over 20 years old. It's not like there are tons of bands playing the same type of music to sold out arenas or something.
IMHO, they are actually somewhat refreshing.

Is anyone gonna get Joey Ramone's new solo album? It just got a very good review in RS.

No. I was going to but after listening to it a few times I honestly think it sucks. Maybe RS does like it or they felt they had to give him a good review because he's dead.

I heard it, and it was pretty decent. I liked it.
New times also gave it a good review.
I liked it.
