Where Do You Store Your CD Collection?

I have three 7-shelf bookcase-style cd racks. They're each 2 feet wide and 4 feet tall, and each hold 385 cds.

In a home theater computer on the hard drive. Then I boxed and stored the jewelcases and put the CDs in paper CD envelopes in a CD storage drawer.

My living room is literally "wall-papered" in pine CD storage units from floor to ceiling. I can't imagine living any other way. When I see these home configurations where people go to great lengths to hide their home entertainment equipment or media, I just shake my head in disbelief. I love having my discs out on display for me to pick through idly and find old favorites that I haven't played in months.

Stacks and stack in a wall unit for some, the ones I listen to the most are in a binder.

Guest bedroom along with my exercise equipment. Not the most welcoming room in the house! One wall is filled with a few oak CD racks. It's funny, owning so many CD's has made me realize how much wasted space is in these racks (I guess they figured some people would use them for video tapes, too). When I make CD's for myself now they are ONLY in slimline cases.

However, I doubt that your CDs smell very good.

In the IKEA black spiral CD case. Holds about 1,000 if you really cram them in there. It was truly a good purchase because I had been using about 5 individual cases before. This saved me much space and shows off the collection a bit more.

I had kind of a unique storage cabinet from IKEA, but a few months ago I finally gave up, junked my jewel cases and put all my CDs in binders. I only have several hundred, though.

I keep mine in one of those cd books. All the plastic jewel cases are the storage room. I don't have thousands though.
