CD Player questions

I'm looking to get a CD player to go with my receiver and can't decide which one to get. I was originally looking at just a single CD capacity, but some of the juke boxes aren't that much more expensive.

One question is bothering me and I can't seem to find a good answer to it.. if the CD player has a digital output, shouldn't the brand not matter? The digital stream should be the same on all CD players shouldn't it?

Just realized that this might be better suited in the HT Hardware section. Feel free to move if necessary.

the brand of the player doesn't matter (in terms of hooking it up). The outputs are standardized on all players, though not all will have the same type of digital outptus. Some will have optical, some coaxial (and some might have both).

Regardless, I'm a big fan of the Marantz line of CD players. They're not particularly expensive, and have great sound quality for the price.
