Will listen to:
Migala - "Arde" (the car -- or my car -- doesn't do this one justice)
Beulah - "The Coast is Never Clear"
Whine of the day:
So my plan was to leave from the South Shore of Boston last night at 8, go to the Mates of State and Beulah show at the Middle East, and drive to Vermont after the concert. Yes, that would have meant getting home around 4 am.
Long story short: I got to the club at 9, but they were sold out. So I turned around and left and drove back to VT. Actually, I didn't drive straight back -- I made 2 wrong turns in Boston. Way below my average.
Now, I could have ordered a ticket ahead of time, but I wasn't sure until the last minute that I wanted to go. In my own defense, I checked the Middle East's web site Sunday afternoon, and it made no mention of the show being sold out. Another plan would have been to get on the guest list, since I had "talked" to the guy from Mates of State a few times. But I didn't.
As it turns out, I got home around 12:45, even though there was no traffic. Lots of construction zones cost me a bunch of time.
The only story I have that tops this one is the time I drove to Montreal to see Of Montreal, and the show was cancelled because they were detained at the border.

Saint Etienne - Smash the System
Techno Animal - Brotherhood of the Bomb
Paris - Sleeping with the Enemy
Gramm - Personal Rock
Aphex Twin - Drukqs [what a mess]
Jadzia and I were going to go see Idaho in Windsor this weekend, but we figured the border would suck.

I thought you didn't go to shows anymore. You have something special for Idaho or just wanted to get out of the house?

I have heard nothing good about the Aphex, except for Jamesheads. Too bad.
