But you can't. The Matrix was a phenomenon because it felt original and fresh, something no sequel/reboot/remake/etc can be. It simply can't. Period.

WB should be investing in more original ideas instead of trotting out a beaten horse and dressing it differently.

Due to the downgrade in quality, watching the prequels might make him hate it even more.

Reeves or no sale.

The matrix wasn't real. If machines programmed us to believe phone booths still exist, then they'd be here.

It's too early to remake The Matrix. I say do it in another 20yrs. But for now let it go.

Too late for a sequel, too soon for a remake.

The Matrix was a great experience. The sequels were alright, and I think they still hold up.

Make it like Rogue One. Same world. There's so much else that could have been happening beyond what we saw. They could write anything they want.

That's what ANIMATRIX did.

I'm honestly fine with this. I rather see it than something like Alien Covenant or Avatar 2-6.

I forgot about the Animatrix. Those are the exact kind of stories I was talking about. Zion woke up thousands of people. Several of which Morpheus thought was "The One" (good luck writing that with a straight face again). Plenty of stories to tell without reusing the same story.

The Matrix was a great film. I would welcome a decent follow up to it. If Larry and Andy could come up with something that was closer to the original than the two shitty sequels, I would be in.

It's funny how this seems so obvious to everyone - except the people with money and power...

I know right? Hell look at Disney. They bought the rights to Star Wars and have put a new trilogy into development and a bunch of spin off movies. Shows how much faith they have in their Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Seriously I've read a lot of asinine stuff on this message board but this is towards the top.

As for this movie, I think rebooting The Matrix might be a good idea but the Wachowskis need to stay far away. They have had one good idea and haven't made a decent movie since, and with how shitty the original trilogy ended I have no faith in them to do this right,

I'm all for someone new coming in with a fresh take and expanding the universe. The Animatrix is the blueprint.

Yeah keep the Wachowski's far far away from this. They have enough issues going on in their lives that I don't think they can add anything fresh or innovative to this. They have not made a good movie in years. Their last masterpiece Jupiter Ascending was one of the worst movies of 2015.

I just meant to say if they were doing a good job with the DCEU considering they have that whole franchise to themselves and not fragmented like Marvel's is, they wouldn't need to go back to the well of one of their more recent successes.

And from what I remember, George sold Lucasfilm to Disney. It's not like Disney bought Marvel in 2009 after the first Iron Man, was disappointed with it, and actively pursued GL for another cash cow.

Here's the thing. Using your logic, Disney should have never even bothered to buy Lucasfilm because the Marvel movies are doing so well, then what's the point of revising Star Wars, or remaking past animated successes? Hell what's the point of doing another Pirates movie this year. You also keep saying the DC movies have failed. So far those three movies have brought them close to $2 billion dollars. The only way they "failed" is because WB wanted more.

Warner Borthers is a business. There goal is to make Delete repeated word money and stay profitable. The Matrix is a past franchise that can make money. It has nothing to do with disappointment in the DC movies. It's about making money. Plain and simple.

A low murmur emits from the group.

"No, it's genius I tell you!"
"TWO known properties?!"

The group becomes agitated with excitement.

"We can't do that!"
"Oh we can, and we are. It will be our biggest hit to date. We can't lose."

They are whatever they choose to program themselves to be.
