Re: Logan (Mangold, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread
Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco, CA now has a 2nd showing of the Black & White Version at 11:15p.
I wasn't sure why the 7:00p Screening sold out so quickly but then I realized the film will be shown in one of the smallest theaters there (maybe holding 40-50 people). This is most likely due to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 contracted to the larger theaters at the Drafthouse.

Just saw it last night. So much discrepancies in the movie. The storyline is just meh like all other superhero movies. So, I gave it 2 1/2 stars.

Example of discrepancies?
Okay, I'll give you a few.
When a gang were trying to steal tires from Logan's limo, they hit Logan's head with fist and they're not hurt. Logan's head is made out of adamantium, it would break all bones in your hand and wrist if you hit his head. Some gangs kick him, etc... and they're not hurt from it.
The gang can easily pick him up. I know he's damn heavy - 300 lbs, I think - possible more due to his height (comic book Wolverine was supposed to be short).
I'm not sure why they decided to introduce X-23 or Laura as kid. She'll never grow up to be like true X-23 as shown in comic book because her bones are adamantium and you can't grow up and she'll ended up look like adult hobbitt.
And more...
Yeah, I'm sure some of you will tell me to shut up and enjoy the movie.

X-23 was introduced as a child in the comics. This was not explicitly stated in the movie, but in the comics, only her claws are adamantium, not her entire skeleton.

If you watch Logan she gets shot through the back and the lance/harpoon thing comes out the front. No way would that happen if her skeleton was adamantiium. So that says that it's just her claws that are adamantium and that she also has the healing factor.

In watching the color version -- I don't think Logan even has a full adamantium skeleton, because he gets shot through the leg with one of those steel arrows X-23 gets shot with.

Pretty good film for a non-superhero/comic book fan like me. Felt it went a bit downhill in the last act when it turned into Beyond Thunderdome.

Maybe I'm more biased since I preferred comic book storyline than movie or TV series.

Watched this last night. I don't think I've ever seen such a relentlessly grim mainstream movie. Everything in this movie is horrible, broken and rotting. America is a jingoistic hellscape of awful casinos, wet corroding pavement, rusting metal, oblivious assholes, oppressed minorities and psychotic killers. Kindness doesn't exist, all motivations are questionable. It honestly reminded me of Haneke's extremely sociopathic worldview: depression porn. The tone never lets up and no hint of humanity is allowed on screen. I guess I can appreciate the skill it took to make this movie, but I wouldn't say I personally found it "entertaining".

And the movie also sucked because one character was a kid

Just got it on Blu-ray today. Looking forward to revisiting it in Black and White, need to get that Mad Max chrome version too. That way I can make it a double feature of Doom and despair

So I watched Logan the other night on Vudu, and the next day I received a notice for a special offer on "Shane." Looks like the service is starting to tailor its offers to films that I've watched.
As for the movie: Damn, that was pretty awesome.

Watched this on Demand yesterday and enjoyed it. Not to the level of many here but it was a decent if seriously depressing movie.
I dd think it had a couple of really stand out sequences:
I thought Xavier herding the horses was a nice touch.
I thought the cell phone video of the lab was as horrifying as it could be.
I think it fell apart a little in the last third and became too predictable and by the "superhero movie" book.
Not a movie I would watch again but glad I saw it.
