I just left the theater and I have no shame in saying that I shed some tears during Logan's death scene. I loved the Western movie atmosphere and the violence was appropriate. What a great fucking movie!

The spoiler alert is in the thread title. This is the "Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread" and the movie has been out for 3 weeks. If you read something that you shouldn't have, it's your own fault, not Ringmaster's.

Yeah, the review threads are post-movie discussion these days, not a way to gauge opinions.

Sometimes I will use the threads to get an idea what people here on the boards think, but I normally only read them on Friday or Saturday of opening weekend without having seen the film (hoping that people will avoid discussion of the biggest spoilers that soon, but knowing that if they do, it's a risk that I'm taking). I wouldn't expect anyone to hold spoiler discussion much longer than that.

Yeah, I scan the reviews threads up until a day or two after the movie releases, and then i'm out for any movie I want to see.

Re: Logan (Mangold, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I went with the wife and daughter at the weekend to see it a second time (could only get tickets for the 4DX experience and I hate that shit), and it held up great on second viewing.

One thing got me thinking though. Is Laura really Logans daughter? If she has been cloned from his DNA and birthed from a Mexican mother isn't she technically Logans sister? Xavier keeps saying it's his daughter, but not sure that's actuallly right.

Oh and this showing had he Deadpool 2 skit before it. It's a single chuckle affair that short that I feel highlights the problem with casting Ryan Reynolds... his shit gets old fast. I liked the first Deadpool movie, but I always find Reynolds trying his hardest to be the coolest funniest cat around and just coming off as desperate. The short met only a deathly silence in the screening I was at (which was very full) and I found that funnier than the short itself.

I tend to agree with this. Sometimes, Reynolds nails his lines as Deadpool; others (most, really) he's that guy who just beats a joke to death by overdoing it to the point of cringe.

Caught this today, Really enjoyed it, very brutal, but a nice sendoff for two iconic characters and a nice job by the actors. Some terrific fight scenes. Gonna miss hugh

I finally saw it, but not on an IMAX screen.

It was well worth the wait. Loved it.

They don't say that she even has a mother. The woman who gave birthed to her was implanted. I assume Laura was grown in a lab and implanted into a woman. She's a test tube baby, but not? I can't articulate it right now.

Saw this for a second time this evening. Still held up well. Loved the fight choreography.

Stupid question for everyone who has seen the film:

That note that Logan wakes up to written by Rictor, was that just a note telling the group to not all travel through the pass at one time, to delay when they all leave?

Just saw this today, what a brutal and amazing experience. The little girl was almost scary good at being a killing machine but she still had her soft side with the pony ride and the sunglasses. Her turning the cross to the X at the end was a simple but but beautiful touch to the story.

It was saying not to take all the serum at once, which he ignores so he can be pumped for the final battle.

Re: Logan (Mangold, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Just got back from seeing this and only read the first couple pages but interesting to see so many on the same page... X-24 was the weak link in this film and the film/that role was just begging for Liev Shreiber. He was the best thing about Origins, so it's kind of a shame to not bring him back in some fashion one last time. It would have certainly been a better villain than the clones and the forgettable dude in charge.

Other than that it was a great film. Brutal and depressing but solid. I was feeling the run time by the end though. The girl that played Laura was fantastic.

I loved the final shot of the cross/X. Simple and beautiful like Milo said.

Lastly, the X-kids in this were more interesting and effective than the First Class mutants.

I went to see it again this week, and still loved it on second viewing the only thing that I thought dragged in the movie was the second act at the farm. I hope there will be a big box set with all the Xmen films together and all the extras when Logan comes out on Bluray. Except for Deadpool, I have never bought any of the Xmen movies on Blu so I might go for a big box set.

Yeah, I majorly have my fingers crossed for a mega-ultra boxed set.

I am still wondering when the bluray release will be? Amazon is saying its coming May 23rd, but all signs are saying there will be a collectors edition with the black and white cut. I might just get the digital version, and hold off for the CE release. I'll gladly check out the Black and white cut in theaters.

I got my ticket for the May 16th showing, one showing, and one night only at the Alamo Drafthouse. Plus the bluray was announced on Facebook for May 23rd, and Digital on the 16th as well.

The black and white stuff always seems kind of gimmicky to me, or just a novelty that I would only check out once.

The B&W version of the Mist is the only way to go, and while I've only watched it once, I think I'd go with the B&W version of the Walking Dead premier as well.

Re: Logan (Mangold, 2017) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I'm kind of surprised the release for the Black & White Version (Logan Noir) is 99% at Alamo Drafthouses across the country. The Egyptian in Los Angeles, CA I believe is the only non-Drafthouse theater screening it. I guess it all makes sense as they are promoting a Live Stream Q&A with James Mangold in it, as well as asking everyone to dress in Black & White

The San Francisco, CA screening is already sold out. Ugh.

Looks like I'll have to wait until the Blu-Ray is out in a few weeks to catch this Version.

The 'Fade To Black & White' Version of Sympathy For Lady Vengeance (2005) is pretty awesome.

Probably just me not being a fan of it; I don't feel like it adds anything, and in the case of the Walking Dead, loses some of the brutality not seeing some of the gore in color.
