Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

Sorry to see him go. Always thought he would have made a good Bob Lee Swagger. Sometimes he could come across as a bit bland in a monotone sort of way, but at least he had an authentic southern accent (like Billy Bob).

Just skimmed after the first two pages, but glad to see Near Dark & Big Love mentioned. There's some Vietnam war-era drama he starred in that I've been meaning to watch for some time, so have to dig that out. More for mentions of One False Move & A Simple Plan.

I also like him in this intense little drama also featuring Wm. Sadler, Ice-T, and Ice Cube. Great Ry Cooder sdtk.

Yep HUGE loss never a massive star but always did a great job in every role IMHO. Will be missed for sure. Of course as mentioned he will always be most remembered for Twister and Hudson from Aliens.

Very sad.

That's a great way of putting it. When he would pop up it was always welcome.

In reading some of the articles written about him in the last day or so I learned he was there the day JFK was assassinated. Apparently as a kid he saw JFK speak just before he left in the motorcade in Dallas.

The kid peeking out in this photo, taken in Fort Worth on November 22, 1963, is none other than actor-director Bill Paxton.

The mafia's pretty thorough in keeping people quiet - even if it took 54 years to do it.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

Man, he really had a great filmography, didn't he?

Also, he pretty much improved everything he was in, just by his presence.

Even that terrible SHIELD show was at it's height when he was playing the ridiculously over the top heavy.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

My wife was really taken aback when I mentioned his death today.

She brought up two recent History Channel miniseries roles that I had forgotten: Randall McCoy in "Hatfields & McCoys" and Sam Houston in "Texas Rising."

All 13 episodes of Training Day were filmed and they wrapped in December.

4 have aired and there are 9 left. It was reported today that Thursday's new episode will have a special tribute to him. Most likely it will be an In Memoriam title card.

Unlikely the series will continue without him. The ratings haven't been good.

I read that Shout Factory was working on Trespass for a BD release sometime this year.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

I remember when he came our on craig Kilbourne with a 6 pack to promote frailty and they shot the shit.

A buddy of mine met bill and said he was a huge class act. I'm glad to see all the love for him.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

Just watched "The Vagrant" tonight. Hadn't ever seen it before and decided to watch it early in my Paxtonthon this week. Such a weird film that goes in wildly different directions than any viewer should expect. Paxton is firing on all cylinders. Such a shitty loss.

Man, I'm watching One False Move now. Pretty brutal stuff. Beach and Billy Bob are so callous. Really good movie.
