That sucks, I always liked Paxton. Way better than Pullman.

Closest I can figure is Lance Henriksen, though he didn't really get killed in Aliens or Alien^3 since his character was an android, and ultimately destroyed by Ripley.

There's a jolt of mortality when I hear about something like this. Gets me thinking about every possible medical problem I might have. Takes time to knock myself out of it.

He will always be Chet from 'Weird Science' to me. "How about a nice greasy pork sandwich served on a dirty ashtray!!"

Great career. A lot of iconic lines and characters. And his career was still going strong, as he seemed to be as well. Read about it this morning I'm still a bit shocked.

Some of you may not have been aware, but Paxton was part of the Marvel Universe.

Yeah, Frailty is a really good film. Disturbing but really great nonetheless. Of course I like his classic roles in Aliens, Predator 2, and Twister too. Not to mention his short part in The Terminator. I watched the first couple seasons of Big Love too but was getting tired of it so I quit.

I looked over his filmography a short time ago reminding myself of how many favorites he appeared in.

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to see One False Move. It's one of his finest performance.

One of the most entertaining character actors of our time who was in an extraordinary number of fantastic hollywood movies. A real loss.

Shocked as I am it's hard for me to get too upset. The man left behind one hell of a legacy as a character actor. Even as a character actor, most actors would give an arm to appear in as many memorable movies as he has. Weird Science, Near Dark, Aliens, Titanic, Twister, Stripes, The Terminator, Commando, Tombstone, True Lies. That's a hell of a resume.

RIP to Jerry Lambert, "The Lone Ranger" (Predator 2).

One hell of an underrated actor, and I always enjoyed his appearances. Quite shocking to hear his passing away. I thought he had at least another few decades left.

Agents of SHIELD never really worked after his character was killed off.

Training Day was on the verge of cancellation anyway. This guarantees it won't be coming back.

Paxton had many memorable roles and has been in a lot of cultural touchstones of the past 30 years. Bill Paxton is one of only two actors to have been killed by an Alien, a Predator and a Terminator.

Henriksen. Though his "death" in Aliens shouldn't really count. Least his death by Predator in AVP is official.

How great was he in Edge of Tomorrow? That look he gives after Cruise gets squashed by the truck makes the entire movie.

Two of my Paxton favorites that never seem to get mentioned, Trespass and Near Dark. Both movies need a good BD release.

Re: RIP Bill Paxton - Dead at 61

He directed one of my favorite movies on one of the most gorgeous Blu ray's I own; The Greatest Game Ever Played In the 1913 US Open, 20-year-old Francis Ouimet played against his idol, 1900 US Open champion, Englishman Harry Vardon. This was before Shia Lebeouf turned into a whackjob and still gave good performances.

Also remember taking my then girlfriend to see Weird Science. RIP Chet

I teared up a bit after hearing this earlier today. Was always a fan of his growing up in the 80s through current.

Heard on tv he spent "the entire seventh grade" in bed due to rheumatic fever. He's probably dealt with a bad ticker all his life.

Oh man I am saddened. Shit. What a shame.

He's had so many great memorable roles for me in movies but one role and movie I can't forget is True Lies. His role brought me tears of laughter in that movie.

RIP

He was either on Kimmel or Fallon and he admitted that no matter how many great movies he was in (Titanic, Apollo 13, etc), he would always be known as Chet to a generation of kids who grew up in the 80's. He said (with a laugh) he had come to terms with it.
