I watched "Wishfully Drinking," Carrie's one-woman show, on HBO Go last night.

^ Yeah, I have that on DVD and it's fantastic.

I read that she was working on a new one-woman show (Wishful Drinking Strikes Back) that had just gotten commissioned by the Geffen Playhouse the day before her cardiac arrest.

Carrie had a nice albeit minor role in Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters playing the caterer opposite Dianne West.

Also married to Bruno Kirby in Harry Met Sally, whom played Albert Brooks' brother in Mother with...Debbie Reynolds.

I went to the NY Times Arts and Leisure talk with her back in 2010. A shame... both her and David Carr are now gone.

This is going to be a rough watch.

Yeah.

Star Wars is going to be really tough to watch now that she's gone. It's going to be a really bittersweet experience.

I also have trouble watching Star Trek, knowing that Leonard, Dee, and Jimmy are no longer with us.

I grew up with these actors and characters and they are like old friends.

Bruno Kirby was not in Mother. Rob Morrow played his brother.

When Jerry Doyle died I rewatched Babylon 5 (for the 3rd time, 4th time though overall counting the original broadcasts), and it was so weird. Jerry, Andreas Katsulas, Richard Biggs, Jeff Conaway, and Michael O'Hare are all gone. That's almost half the regular cast from the first season! And regular/recurring guests like Robin Sachs and Tim Choate are dead, too!

I still love the show, and I'll revisit it every couple of years, but it has become a little sad when you think about all the people in the cast who died far younger than they should have.

And now Star Wars is going to have a bit of that feeling - a feeling of loss when it should be pure enjoyment. Carrie was really special and her presence will be greatly missed in Episode IX.

I forgot Robin Sachs died. I remember him best as Ethan Rayne from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

It's really eerie how so many of the cast from Babylon 5 have died. Most of the at age sixty, too.

Re: RIP Carrie Fisher (1956-2016)

Carrie Fisher doctored the scripts for Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones?? really?

I also would love to have heard her take on her screen mother just "dying" after giving birth to twins because Anakin turned to the dark side. Christ that was handled so fucking poorly.

Carrie Fisher is not one to ask about a mother dying of a broken heart

Re: RIP Carrie Fisher (1956-2016)

HBO has moved up its airdate for Carrie Fisher-Debbie Reynolds documentary “Bright Lights” after both daughter and mother passed away within a day of each other this week.

The special will now debut on Saturday, January 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Here’s HBO’s official description: The story of a family’s complicated love, this documentary is an intimate portrait of Hollywood royalty in all its eccentricity. Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, live in the same Beverly Hills compound. The 83-year-old grand dame still has a Las Vegas act, but performing is taking its toll. Carrie’s response is both hilarious and heart-rending. Featuring vintage family films that bring iconic old-world Hollywood to life, as well as extensive vérité footage, the film is directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens.

That's not really fair. After any celebrity's death there's usually an increased interest in their product and HBO is making it available. Carrie got paid, and any further percentage will go to her estate, and I'm sure Carrie would have liked her material out to as many would like to see it. I doubt anyone is going to subscribe just to see her special.

Maybe, maybe not. I doubt anybody subscribes due to this either, so we'll agree there. But why bump it up then? By my understanding this is a documentary, not one of Carrie's shows.

Watching 20/20 now. It's pretty good, but most of it has been covered on other specials I've seen this week. I guess her brother was interesting though I don't get how Debbie seemingly never took him to an orthodontist.

Re: RIP Carrie Fisher (1956-2016)

So I watching the 8 out of 10 Cats Christmas Special, which aired on December 21, and it features Carrie Fisher, in probably the last TV appearance she recorded.

Re: RIP Carrie Fisher (1956-2016)

Carrie Fisher's death will trigger biggest EVER personal accident insurance claim after Disney took out $50 MILLION policy in case she couldn't finish Star Wars films

• Carrie Fisher was known to millions as Princess Leia from the Star Wars films
• Disney, which is bankrolling the latest movies, had insured her for £41million
• Star Wars Episode VIII is in the can but Episode XI will have to be rewritten

Disney is set to receive £41million over Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher’s untimely death after taking out insurance to cover her failing to fulfil a three-film contract, it was claimed last night.

Fisher died on December 27, aged 60, having suffered a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

The actress, who rose to prominence playing Princess Leia in George Lucas’ original 1970s Star Wars trilogy, had reprised her role in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

And she is set to have major role in Star Wars Episode VIII, which will be released next year, with filming completed before her death.

However, Fisher was also due to have a starring part in Star Wars Episode XI – scheduled for release in 2019 – which is now expected to be substantially re-written in the wake of the actress’ death.

Disney are yet to comment on how the planned plot will be affected.

The ensuing insurance payout is thought to be the market’s biggest-ever single personal accident insurance claim, according to trade publication The Insurance Insider.

Sources spoken to by the website say Lloyds of London will make the payout after Disney took out $50million of ‘contract protection cover’, in the event Fisher was unable to appear in any of the new Star Wars films.

Fisher, who found worldwide fame at the age of just 19 in the 1977 original, led a turbulent life punctuated by battles with substance abuse and bipolar disorder, which is thought to have led to the surprising policy.

It is said to be underwritten by US-based company Exceptional Risk Advisors, who describe themselves as "experts in insuring complex human capital risks for highly successful individuals."

Fisher’s tragic death led to an outpouring of grief from moviegoers worldwide.

She had recently completed a publicity tour of the UK, but suffered a heart attack on a flight back to America and died four days later.

Her mother, the Hollywood actress Debbie Reynolds, died one day later, aged 84.

Disney and Lloyds of London did not immediately respond to requests for comment last night.

Disney $$$

If it's truly $50 million, and solely for the contract, I'm betting Fisher was paid $50 million for appearing in all 3 films, and Disney won't get the full amount, but a portion according to the amount of the contract Fisher didn't fulfill.
