Plus she had to endure a lot of negativity afterwards.
I imagine the last couple years were very stressful for her.
And she didn't do herself any favors early on with the drug consumption.
As much as this was expected over the last few days, it still hurts.

This is unbelievably sad... seeing the headline pop up on CNN felt like a punch in the gut.
Princess Leia has been my favorite movie character since I was 10, but there was so much more to Carrie Fisher. She was a witty and talented woman who used humor and sarcasm as a shield against the struggles she'd experienced throughout life. In her own words: "If my life wasn't funny, it would just be true... and that is completely unacceptable."
Rest in peace, dear lady.

Her episode of 30 Rock is over of my favorites. "Never go with a hippie to a second location."
And I just watched The Blues Brothers while wrapping Christmas presents. Not to mention When Harry Met Sally. So sad.

Being an addict off and on for almost 30 years took a huge toll on her body so although this is sad news, it is not shocking.

I had such a crush on her as a kid. Who could forget her in the slave outfit in ROTJ? RIP.

Ugh. This sucks.
I'm just the right age where Star Wars is literally the first movie I can remember seeing. Princess Leia was such a badass.

I knew it was only a matter of time since they would only say she was in "stable" condition. You can be dead and be "stable". She was probably brain dead after such a long time without breathing. Still hurts, though. RIP.

I know the metal bikini got all the young boys' hearts racing (mine included) but for some reason I didnt develop my crush on her until I saw her in The 'burbs. For some reason her short hair really got me going.
RIP Carrie.

When I was twelve, I wanted to marry Princess Leia. I wrote to her and of course I got the pre-printed b/w photo in the mail, but you could not have told me anything back then. It was true love.

She is one with the Force, and the Force is with her.
I know I'm not along on this forum as being old enough to have grown up in the 80's admiring her (along with Mark and Harrison). I watched my old VHS copies of the OT so many times I had every line down perfectly She was part of an incredible trifecta that created cinematic magic on the screen.
It was truly wonderful getting her back for the new Star Wars movies, but I'm also wondering if the extra stress brought this on.

Very sad that she passed away at only 60. But, I can't say I'm shocked considering the dire condition she was reported to have been in after her cardiac arrest.
I can't imagine the feelings of her 80-something mother Debbie Reynolds. She probably expected to go well before her daughter.

Sitting here earlier, finally having Christmas with my parents, opening up the stuff in my stocking. Parents always get me something Star wars themed for Christmas. I pull out a grey shirt with the outline of Han with the "I know" quote on it. At the same time I heard my mom say "Carrie Fisher just died".
RIP.
