Nerve (2016, D: Joost/Schulman) S: Emma Roberts, Dave Franco
A high school senior finds herself immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of "watchers."
Looks like this comes out tomorrow. No reviews.

I kind of like the idea, but the movie doesn't look particularly good. That making of makes it look worth $59 though.

Watching the theatrical trailer, -though I'm clearly not the audience (it's clearly pitched at young women, -its looks to be one those movies where the "dares", -the risky stuff, -seems remarkably "non-threatening".

I've really liked Emma Roberts' latest string of movies: Adult World, Palo Alto and Ashby, plus of course Scream Queens on TV.
So I'm in.

Saw a preview last night, had to laugh at most of it. I live in NYC and when you have a scenes where you show the stars traveling from Staten Island to midtown in 15 minutes, then from Grand Central to DUMBO in Brooklyn, in just a few minutes you just take me right tout of the movie. LOL. Or one of them getting to Staten Island by ferry and the other by the F train! and they get there the same time! How do you even get to SI via the F train!! LOL
It's a teen move that is luck enough to come out during the Pokemon phase cause it sorta deals with that type of craziness. I give it a 2 out of 5

After bad traffic and logistics prevented me and my gal from seeing our preferred film, we saw this tonight in a theater full of young people. For every scene where I shook my head in disdain, I could hear a young person saying,"Cool!" or "Awesome!" so I guess it spoke to its intended audience. It was entertaining enough.

Caught a showing of this. It's slickly made and mildly amusing for the first half. Though as others have noted, the dares are way too tame -- stuff like "Try on a dress" (yeh, I'm sure that would be top of the list for Internet pervs to dare a hot teenage girl to do).
By the end, its like the writers simply gave up on trying to come up with a clever way to wrap up things and instead just give us one of the least imaginative and believable finales ever. Even worse it gets all moralistic by heavy handedly pointing fingers at all the anonymous nitwits who populate the web.
Emma Roberts was better than I thought she would be, while Franco demonstrates why he'll never be as famous as his brother (whose name shows up in a newspaper headline early on). Juliette Lewis has what might be the worst role of her career playing one of the dumbest mothers in cinema history.

Although a silly premise I was entertained throughout and I loved the soundtrack. Downloaded the official one and made an unofficial one of the songs featured.

No, I made it for my old school iPod Classic (how sad it's old school now). What part of the movie is that piece?

It seems to be the theme music to the game itself- it plays when Vee is first signing up.

You can listen to samples on Amazon:

I'll have to re-watch the movie to hear it.

Yeah this was fluffy and entertaining, had much better production values than most similar fare.
There's an episode of Black Mirror S3 that is pretty similar, albeit much darker.

Found it- it's called "Game On".
The main part loops during the main menu on the Blu-Ray, and plays in full as the second track in the end credit crawl (after the mellower choir piece- I have it bookmarked on the disc.) Wish it were longer.

Mash-up of score tracks- but I don't do iTunes and the CD is $15.88 at Amazon. For that much it should be both the score album and all the pop songs in it. (If you watch the Blu-ray with the hearing-impaired subtitles on, it IDs almost every song by artist and title.)

"Nerve" is my favorite movie of 2016. Yeah, vast minority here, but I LOVED it.
Also, Jungle's "Lucky I Got What I Want" is the best song in the film.

Rented the Blu-Ray and enjoyed it. Premise is ridiculous, but it was a very entertaining 96 minutes. Very brisk pace. I also liked the music.
Hate Emma Roberts on Scream Queens, but I actually liked her here. Thought she had good chemistry with Dave Franco.
The Blu-Ray has an interactive NERVE game on it FYI.

Didn't really feel much about the main characters. The story of Vee's brother seemed tacked on and pointless.
I felt like this was written by someone very young. Like a story you have to write and you leave it until Sunday night to finish it.
Performances were decent.
I liked the Orange is the New Black castings.
2 and 1/2 stars.
