Already a huge boxoffice hit in South Korea.
From Na Hong-jin, the director of The Chaser and The Yellow Sea.
Its sheer intensity and ambiguous narrative might put off some viewers, but this latest film could well be regarded as one of the best films to emerge from Korea in recent years.
Jason Bechervaise, Screen International
Forget the inflated Trumpian moral dilemmas of Superman and Captain America. The summer’s most powerful and most disturbing thriller has arrived, in the form of an intensely atmospheric Korean movie called 'The Wailing,' which caused a sensation at Cannes earlier this month and has since become a huge box-office hit in Asia.
Andrew O'Hehir, Salon
'The Wailing' is the most unsettling Korean horror film in years...
Aja Romano, Vox Culture
'The Wailing' is the hard stuff. Handle with care.
Glenn Kenny, NY Times
Synopsis:
The arrival of a mysterious stranger in a quiet rural village causes suspicion amongst the villagers -- but as they begin killing each other for no apparent reason, that suspicion turns to panic. When the daughter of the investigating officer falls under the same savage spell, he calls in a shaman to assist in finding the culprit.

South Korea has a wildly awesome mainstream cinema setup there that has a bit of everything in the forefront for its movies. They have balls where we... well... we're Eunuchs now.

Seems like the only theatre nearby that has this is an AMC without reserved seating.
Sounds pretty good, though.

You think reserved seating is somehow a benefit for THIS movie?
This isn't The Force Awakens on opening weekend...I bet there are no more than 10 people per showing, you'd get good seats.

At least the AMC closest to me sucks, is what I mean. I haven't been to the one showing this flick, though.

Yeah, it's a really good flick. The little girl that plays the daughter does a great job. Oh, on RT it's slipped down to 99%.
It's on Netflix, if you have it.
