If you plan to do a fair comparison, all movies figures should be adjusted for inflation.

I wish they went by tickets sales to be honest. Then no adjustment for inflation is necessary.

Well, if we don't adjust for inflation Gone With The Wind looks like a huge flop....

Seriously, you can't compare box office numbers for movies released a decade or more apart. Costs were lower and so were ticket prices.

Anyone who doesn't understand the time value of money really shouldn't be discussing anything remotely related to economic matters.

Not a huge fan of these movies but have seen a couple in the theaters when the kids wanted to. I've seen several as rentals and they are fine. This was enjoyable enough couple hours but didn't wow me the way the avenger movies do.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (Singer, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Just watched this a couple of days ago and one of my criticisms is the time lapse from First Class to this one was not believable. It's been what 20 years (mid-late 60's to mid-80's?) and yet Xavier, Magneto don't look any older. They should both be pushing late 40's or into their 50's.

Havok..should be in late 30's at least (and its weird he has a high school aged brother). As well as Hank McCoy should be in his late 30's or early 40's. Moira too! They all look like they have not aged

Even Stryker should look older, and probably more grizzled.

The only pass I can give is to Mystique since it was hinted that her mutant power likely slows the appearance of her age.. and obviously Wolverine.. for obvious reasons.

So the big bad Apocaypse's power was that he controlled sand? He was the Sandman? I really did not like this one. Scott was horrible, the Horseman were weak. Jean was the one highlight for me.

Was Havok supposed to be 20 years older than Scott?

Worst X-Men movie ever. Origins Wolverine was better. I barely made it through this. Let the series die. The Wolverine cameo was a little interesting that is about it. Glad I didn't blind buy it.

....Not the worst one.. but probably the most boring one. Shit. I was bored more from this than even X3 and Origins. Crap as they were... they kept my attention. This one bored the fuck out of me.

I thought it was fine, but it has no reason for existing.

Fox has made a hot mess out of the X-Men franchise. It's obvious that they're just making it up as they go along, they screw up the characters and just drop them around randomly, and there's no sense of continuity between the movies.

I don't think anyone would call First Class or Days of Future a hot mess. They made a few stinkers, but Fox is making a shit ton of money on each and everyone...

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (Singer, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

I haven't seen this one yet, but the X-men franchise is easily my favorite superhero movie franchise(excluding X3). Not every franchise needs some big continuity / pre-determined 10 year plan. They just need to be entertaining, for me at least. I don't care if Cyclops is the wrong age, or Wolverine is wearing the wrong suit or anything. I just need some mutants (interchangeable) to come together to overcome a villain. Caveat, it has to have a decent story to back it up. Pretty easy formula that seems to be working well for Fox.

DoFP is awesome as fuck. FC is awesome when it has fuck all to do w/ anyone else aside from Charles and Erik. That young group was such a waste of time and space for the film. Shaw and MacTaggert were alright but holy hell are both teams shitty as fuck.

I think Fox has done fine with the franchise, a few duds but at least they pushed past them and didn't go the Spider-man route with it.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse (Singer, 2016) — The Spoiler Filled Reviews Thread

Definitely not a hot mess, any they certainly have more good or great movies then stinkers. I thought Apocalypse was generally ok, but even then 1 bad movie out of each "trilogy" isn't too bad. And I still really really like The Wolverine after the poor X-Men Origins Wolverine.

It will be interesting how they proceed though after Deadpool's success.

This will also be the only one I do not own. I am fine with this one not existing. Underachieved at the Box-Office as well. Someone other than Singer needs to take this over IF they continue.

I'd be interested to see what you think of this movie once you've seen it. You have the same basic attitude towards this that I do, it doesn't have to conform to any particular sense of continuity or story arc like some of the other franchises, it just needs to entertain.
