Tommorrow Never Dies is probably my favorite Brosnan Bond film. TND gets a bad wrap. Goldeneye always gets all the love but TND is a good middle ground between the serious Goldeneye and the absurdity that followed with TWINE and LAD.

Plus as spiderbite said, it has some of the best action of the Brosnan flicks, Michelle Yeoh kicked ass. Terri Hatcher was fun... and holy hell, that motorcycle/helicopter chase sequence? One of my favorite chase scenes in all of cinema. It was just superbly coreographed and shot.

The source added, “Plus, Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond.”
When Brosnan was first being considered for Bond I thought I read that he wouldn't be "tough enough" to play Bond -- something about flinching should he kick a car off of a cliff like Moore did in For Your Eyes Only. I guess he showed them wrong with his Bond films.

Tomorrow Never Dies is my fav Brosnan as well. Everything just clicks in that movie.

re: No Time to Die (Bond 25) (2021, D: Fukunaga) -- News, rumors, etc.

Brosnan should have been great as Bond, but his movies were generally awful. Goldeneye was probably the best. Tomorrow Never Dies had such a pathetic villain, and a shame as Johnathan Pryce is a great actor. I know they were trying to have a dig at people like Rupert Murdoch, but it just came off as lame. I did like the opening scene with Bod blowing the base to hell and stealing the jet. The other movies he did were truly terrible. The World Is Not Enough is so incredibly unmemorable and Die Another Day was possible the worst of them all. I don't think any of them had good main songs either. I have liked almost all of the Craig main songs (except Spectre).

And as for Hiddleston, i am glad he is not getting the part. Tom Hardy would be a better choice. At this point it needs someone more rough around the edges. Just not f'ing Idris Elba.

I'd say Die Another Day is in the top three or so worst Bond films. Kind of a shame that Brosnan went out so weak.

Yeah, I can agree the two films he did aren't the best (though I do like both of them) but I liked him as Bond. He's similar in looks to Brosnan but yet he's more rough around the edges and I buy him as more of a tough guy. I think if he had gotten the chance to do more films he could have been remembered as one of the best. Instead I feel like he's often overlooked. I have to think the hold up between his last film and Brosnan's first film was a lot of the reason he didn't come back.

Dalton always felt a bit off to me, even if you accept that the movies he was in weren't the greatest and just look at his performances. He felt stiff and forced.

Dalton got stuck within 80s action mania. Brosnan should have been the best but all of his scripts after Goldeneye were terrible, filled with bad casting and unmemorable villains.

Yeah, who would ever believe that an evil, wealthy media mogul would ever want to assume ultimate power and endanger and potentially destroy the world?

Gonna have to disagree with you there. "The World Is Not Enough" by Garbage is easily the best Brosnan song and is one of the best Bond songs from the last 30 years. But I do agree his other ones are terrible. K.D. Lang's "Surrender" (played during the closing credits of Tomorrow Never Dies) should have been the main theme song for that movie. It blows Sheryl Crow's theme song out of the water.

Craig has easily the worst James Bond song of all time with "Another Way To Die" from Quantum Of Solace by Jack White and Alicia Keys. That song is nails on a chalkboard awful.

Craig did have "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell for Casino Royale which is the other great Bond song from the last 30 years.

I agree with you on no Hiddleston. He was okay in Kong but just didn't have the presence needed for a Bond film. I disagree with you on Tom Hardy. Rough around the edges is okay if it is Dalton or Sean Connery rough but I don't want another thug like Craig. I want someone who has a roughness but can also pull off being suave. Dalton wasn't great at the suave part which hurt him. Brosnan wasn't great at the tough part. Neither was Moore.

That is why Sean Connery is still tops. He pulled both off perfectly and is a tough guy to replace in the part. I don't know who is out there right now that could pull off tough and suave equally. I really would have liked to have seen Clive Owen in the part. Seeing many of his other roles, I think he could have pulled off both.

As much as I love Craig movies, he was never as suave as Connery

so is Idris Elba not a choice ?

One guy I've always thought would have been a great Bond in his day was Rod Taylor.

Taylor had his own entry in the 60's spy movie lottery. It was called The Liquidator and it's partly played for satire but mostly played straight. Not a bad film and it has a smoking hot Jill St. John and a fun jazzy score by Lalo Sciffrin.

And yeah, he would have made a very strong Bond.

Like I said, neither is very interesting. I should add, the henchmen sucked after Goldeneye as well.

The Craig Bond movies all wear out their welcome. Even Casino Royale drags at times. Bond movies don't need to be 2.5 hours long.

An hour long Texas Hold 'Em interlude will do that.

As pretty much every Bond movie.

I've agreed with quite a bit that has been said on this page! I am very pleasantly surprised at the love Tomorrow Never Dies is getting! TND has always been one of my faves, but I thought it was pretty universally panned.

Now for some controversial statements: I actually like Cheryl Crow's rendition of TND. Other than Adele's Skyfall (which is damn near the quintessential Bond song), I haven't been a big fan of most of the songs from the Daniel Craig era. The recent Sam Smith song had potential, but it should have been a duet (and not with himself). And, for more controversy, that Jack White/Alicia Keys abomination had some neat parts (but was bad overall).

I'm one of the few who thought Chris Cornell's You Know My Name was a pretty good Bond song, and a nice change to usher in the Craig era. Unfortunately it followed with that Jack White/Alicia Keys song, which is the absolute worst one out of any Bond film.

The editing and shooting style made QoS very difficult for me to sit through even once (didn't mind the story and actually loved the cast) so I can't really recall that theme song.

I agree about the Cornell one though. It's one of the catchiest and most rocking of the whole series to me. And the film itself was great which doesn't hurt how it's perceived.

(and yeah, very fond of Garbage's too)

Seems weird to see a one film distribution deal these days.

I was just going to post that Cornell's just rocks harder than most Bond themes. I legit like that song.

Lulu's theme for "The Man with the Golden Gun" begs to differ.
