Does the Rotten Tomatoes score matter to you in deciding to see a movie?
I know so many movies are released monthly and most of you simply don't have the time to see all the ones that look good based on the trailer.
So, just wondering does the movie's Rotten Tomatoes score matter to you? Or will you see it regardless if you think the early footage/trailer look good to you?
For me, sometimes. If a comedy has a shitty RT score, it probably really does suck.
But, for summer blockbusters or comic action movies, I'll probably see it regardless.

A bit.
For comedies, horror, and action.. I'm a bit cautious on any of them to begin with. Action gets a bit less scrutiny from me w/ the scores.
But the blockbuster stuff? Just depends. Something like BvS? Wouldn't affect me in seeing it. but big as fuck drama or something? Probably take it into some type of light consideration for thought.
Though if it looks like crap via trailer and the scores are high? I'm game to give it a go.
Example: Paddington Bear had shitty trailers. Like super shitty as fucking hell trailers. The movie got high scores. And it was actually a really damn good movie.

I don't think I've ever chosen to avoid a movie solely because of bad reviews. If I have a bit of interest in a film and see that it gets bad reviews, or a low RT score, I do sometime wait for it come to Redbox and just watch it that way. A few recent films which have gotten pretty bad reviews-The Bronze, Gods of Egypt, for instance-got such bad reviews that I figured I'd just wait until they came out on video.

Voted sometimes. I'll generally see movies that really interest me regardless of reviews, unless they are exceptionally poor. I mentioned it before, but the most use I get out of RT scores is if a movie I wasn't paying attention to prior gets exceptional reviews which can entice me to see it.

Nope. Never been on that site. Never read any "pro" critics reviews. Only read fellow movie goers comments (this site) and that still has nothing on my decision to see a movie or not.
I always watched Sneak Previews and their other shows growing up. Not caring about their reviews, but those two sassy pricks always made me laugh.

It matters to a degree if early reviews echo concerns I already have about a movie. But even then, if it is a movie I want to see, I will see it anyway, just with lowered expectations.

Zero effect.
Film criticism used to be sacred. I felt like I personally knew Ebert, and maybe the guy from the local station or newpaper.
Now there's so much saturation it renders it all worthless.
I guess there's still something there, when everyone aligns on the positive side. Less so when everyone aligns on the negative side.

usually when I'm undecided about a movie. An overwhelmingly poor or an overwhelmingly positive critical response can usually nudge me far enough in one direction.
Unless its a horror film, then all bets are off. I'll see almost any horror film theatrically. I don't care how bad the reviews are. I could walk out of the theater in complete agreement with the majority of what critics are saying, but I almost always feel it was still worth my time. I'm easy to please in that regard.

Never visited the RT site. I read the local NYC reviewers and, for better or worse, this forum.

I'd like to think I don't let reviews dictate my choices but with limited time to see all the movies released, I do check with RT and some of the various online reviews. If too many people say slow moving or confusing I know I probably won't enjoy it. I know RT is notoriously harsh on many of my dumb popcorn movie action flicks, yet hold artsy type films in high regard. SoI have to take that into account.

It matters to me if it is a smaller movie and I don't know a lot about it. If it has a bad score then there is probably a reason for that, and I am pretty cautious about wasting time on it.
When it comes to big Hollywood productions, I take the scores with a grain of salt because those can be entertaining no matter how ridiculous.
Just this week I had advance purchase tickets for BvS and then the RT scores came out at 33%. I was really concerned that I was in for a lousy time and a let-down, and would have dumped the ticket if I could. BvS was okay. I could have waited, but I'm not sorry I saw it right away.

Sometimes.
Like with BVS, a movie that I wasn't completely sold on given how they seemed to be cramming everything in in a forced manner rather than an organic storytelling manner. I was hoping that it would be a more coherent story than it appears to be, but the reviews have made it clear that the movie is a bit of a mess. So I'm waiting for blu ray (on a good sale price).
And I was able to get out of seeing Zoolander 2 thanks to the 24% Fresh rating...

This is like asking "Does Waze matter to you?". It may not effect your life all that much, but it's helpful when you're trying to navigate to a destination using information about road conditions.
I may not be looking at it, but it's an excellent tool to utilize if I'm on the fence on a film to see what the general feeling of a film is in the critics eyes.

If it's a summer blockbuster, I usually see it regardless. However, if it's a comedy or indie drama and it's getting trashed critically, chances are it's pretty bad. Those movies really make one feel like leaving the movie theater, as there's seldom a good visual aspect to hold your attention.

Nope. I have seen enough movies to know what I like, and usually a trailer is all I need.
