I hope a sequel brings along the same marketing team the first one did.

I can't imagine they wouldn't. It is partially responsible for the movie's success.

Definitely. It took me from disinterest to seeing it later on this week. The actual previews didn't do much for me, and I only see a handful of movies in the theater, but the marketing gave me the push to go check it out.

Partially being the key word. The film's opening is more like 80-90% marketing. Marketing for Deadpool was almost everywhere. I'm still pretty shocked how well this filmed opened.

Has an actor succeeded when campaigning publically for a part? That one dude tried for The Governor in TWD, Sean Young embarrassed herself for Catwoman...maybe there's been a success but I can't recall.

It's rare, but Paul Giamatti did kind of campaign to play Rhino in ASM2 and wound up in the role to his minor detriment.

I'm not sure if he campaigned but I can't remember if it was Reynolds saying he wanted DP before Wolverine was happening.

Did the comic mention Reynolds first or was it only a thing when Reynolds had the role? I can't remember. They were close to each other though.

Re: Deadpool 2: Electric Boogaloo - blah blah blah

He's not a great actor but someone posted a picture of Kevin Nash (the professional wrestler) as a good match for Cable in terms of how he looks. Have to say he'd be pretty close but again I don't think he can really act.

Cable is Nathan Summers, the son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey, aka the Goblin Queen), born in the 80s and sent into a war-torn future because he had been infected with a techno-organic virus that could not be treated in that time.

He came back from that future as an adult (significantly older than either of his parents) as a battle hardened warrior. His powers are telekneisis and telepathy (like his mother), but his powers are gimped because he uses them to keep the virus in check. He also as a metal arm as a result of the virus.

He had a long running ongoing series with Deadpool, where he played the straight man to Deadpool's insanity. He is also another creation of Rob Liefeld.

I'm really interested to see how much of that nonsense they actually intend to try and cover in a Deadpool movie which will be the first theatrical appearance of the character.

I've googled comic book characters before. It always takes you to a wiki that gives you way too much info, detailing an entire convoluted history and referencing other characters I've never heard of. That's why I like asking comic readers here who can give me the nitty gritty summary of a character, and how they might fit into the movie Universe.

He had a history of asking questions he can find simple answers about by doing a simple search.

Yeah, I'm just saying as a non comic guy, finding some basic info can be like falling down the rabbit hole. I appreciate when posters here take the time to post a brief summary with the relevant info.
