2016 Oscar Nominations

Re: 2016 Oscar Nominations
No one has a bigger hard on than LDC fans who are purple in the face and believe he is always being cheated of an Oscar.
Peter O’Toole went to his grave with an honorary Oscar which he received at 70 years old.
I like the guy and enjoy watching his films, but from what I have seen he hasn't earned one yet.

DiCaprio's performance was harder to pull off than Tommy Lee Jones' that year, for what it's worth.

I'm pretty happy with most of the nominations. Save for Scott being snubbed. That was pretty shocking. As much as I loved "Room", Abrahamson's nomination over him is insane. I'm also bummed "Sicario" didn't get any notice for it's acting. Or even for Best Picture. I thought it and "The Revenant" were the two best of 2015. Also, I'm more than o.k. with "The Hateful Eight" not getting more nominations. I just felt it was QT's weakest film. Right up there with "Death Proof" as his most boring. And last, I'm thrilled that that terrible song from "Furious 7" was snubbed.

A few I would've liked to have seen nominated:
Crimson Peak-Costume Design, Art Direction, Production Design
And what may be my most favorite original song I've heard in years:

I hope Sly wins, but I can see the Academy giving that award to Mark Ruffalo (who, honestly, was FANTASTIC in SPOTLIGHT).
ALSO:
I really wish the Academy would have found a spot for THE FORCE AWAKENS in the Best Picture category. We all know it wouldn't have won, but since you can nominate up to 10 movies, why not give it some appreciation? It would have also guaranteed more people tuning in to your show I February.
I have the feeling that - aside from Best Supporting Actor and perhaps some technical categories - THE REVENANT is going to sweep this year.

Tommy Lee Jones should have won in 1992 for JFK but they had to give Jack Palance his "career" Oscar.

Great example on Eddie Murphy--much like I think Mickey Rourke's WWE flirtations cost him the award, I think Norbit cost Eddie. Which is BS, but then again, so are awards for art when it comes down to it.

Yeah, it always annoys me when people win because of their long career or because the Academy was making up from a previous year. Russell Crowe really won for The Insider, not Gladiator, for example.

Mickey was fucking robbed. He was also robbed of a nomination 20 years prior for "Barfly."

That was one of the all-time great screw ups. Crowe was outstanding in The Insider. He never should have won for Gladiator.

I'd love to see George Miller win the directing oscar, would have given it to Ridley Scott myself but as he isn't even nominated I'd be glad to throw my support to Miller. It truly was a master work of his.
