Bale is an excellent choice by the lengths he goes to in his roles.
I don't know that I've ever seen him in a role that really highlights his acting chops, but I have to suggest Karl Urban. You don't even know when it is him in a role until you hit the credits. Dude is a fricking chameleon. Of course, there is the helmet joke in there too ...

Cliff Curtis also comes to mind in terms of his chameleon skills. He is 50 so he barely makes the age cut off.
