Bad reviews from critics but audiences liked it. Got an A from Cinescore. On RT, 5.7/10 from critics, 4.2/5 (or 8.4/10) from audiences.

Probably not an outright bomb, but a disappointment? Looks like it only made another $63 million internationally so far.

That's got to be a big disappointment. Could this be the first Pratt bomb since his rise to fame? Curious if Passengers will be a bigger disappointment than this.

Thanks for posting that, TheMovieman!
Weekend Actuals, mostly for the fact that #2 and #3 swapped vs estimated and the addition of Shin Godzilla, which had a very impressive haul. Desierto is directed by Jonás Cuarón, Alfonso's eldest son.

The local Fox station has two movie reviewers. One's white while the other is African American, who tends to give a slight bias towards movies made by/starring African Americans. Not this time. He gave the Madea movie a 0/5 score.

I actually want to check out Ouija: Origin of Evil for no other reason than the fact that Mike Flanagan wrote and directed it. Absentia was good, and both Oculus and Hush were kind of great. It's possible Ouija won't follow that trend, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Re: The Official Box Office Discussion Thread
The last Madea film, A Madea Christmas, made $53 million total. The one before that opened at $25.7 million. This movie has already hit $55.2 million and dropped less than 40%. That's better than just about any Madea film made and stayed #1 for two weeks in a row, something that the last two did not do. So no, Madea films do NOT hold up well. Ouija opened to 3,167 theaters. Madea opened to 2,260 and was ONLY expect to open at $15 million. Again, nice try. Madea is MUCH more impressive. Ouija this past weekend had literally about 1,000 more theaters and Madea beat it down.

Inferno has essentially made it's money back with Worldwide Box office.
But, that's quite a lackluster start for it's U.S. run. It may not even make $60M domestic with that low a start.
Maybe it's just been too long since the last move. 7 years since the last sequel is a really long time.

I am curious to see if Boo gets hit with the same post-holiday drop that a lot of Halloween themed movies run into.
Edit: actually now that I think of it, Ouija was the only actual horror movie out this Halloween and it had two weekends to itself. It really is doing quite poorly considering, not surprising though considering its the sequel to a poorly received movie.
