Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

After a man's wife is kidnapped, four men (Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, Richard Jenkins) go to save her and find that many horrors await them.

I'm always game for Kurt Russell in a western. That alone is worth me buying a ticket. Has a 78% on RT, 7 Fresh and 2 Rotten.

This is gonna be way better than Hateful Eight. Unless released NC-17 I'd wait for the unrated(excessive gore and violence) BD.

I had tickets to a screening last week with the director and Matthew Fox doing Q&A, but couldn't make it.

So good. Everyone was great in it. Especially Jenkins and Fox.
Slow pace but never boring. Very brutal in parts.
Highly recommended.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

It has been released "Unrated" apparently.

Available now on your typical VOD sources and:

Vudu
Amazon
and iTunes

Rental: It's $6.99 on Vudu and $3.99/$4.99 on Amazon, I think the Amazon one is a misprice that will go up tomorrow.
Purchase: It's $13.99 on Vudu, $14.99 on Amazon

Currently sitting at 87% on RottenTomatoes.com with 30 Reviews

I can't fucking believe this didn't get a major push. I was off work today and watched it from Amazon. I seriously can't recommend this movie enough. Wow...just wow.

Edit. I only paid $4.99 for HD.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

Saw it earlier as well. Surprised how much I was laughing, not in a bad way, the first 2/3 of the film. Great banter. Takes a while to get there, but poor Nick.

Thumbs up on this.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

I'm trying to not read spoilers on this one but I just started watching this and it's pretty cool. Yeah, the dialogue is killing me, because it's so fucking funny, witty, and clever.

It's no surprise - I looked up the writer/director and he's a novelist that has written several westerns.

I'm impressed with how much they got done on such a minimal budget.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

Watched this earlier this evening. Dug it quite a bit. Poor Nick indeed, that was a gnarly death. I barely recognized Richard Jenkins. I know he's old, but they made him look like he was 75-80.

I'll probably pick it up on Blu.

Didn't help that was seemingly making a Paul Giamatti impression the whole movie

You can get an awful lot of mileage out do a budget, especially in the digital age.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

The movie was great. I'll definitely be getting the BD. I was surprised at how ultra violent it was for being a micro-budget flick. They did well on the make-up and prosthetic special effects. It's going on my Top-10 list of the year.

It's also playing in limited release. The Burbank AMC Towncenter is playing it. FYI

For such a big company with so much renowned technology behind them, it's amazing how many mistakes they make on their VOD service.

No way I'm paying that for a rental. I'll wait 28 days and get it from Redbox for an actually reasonable price for a rental.

$6.99 is the standard rental price for the "Same Day as Theater" rentals -- their excuse being it's cheaper than a theater ticket and multiple people can watch, it'll be out on blu-ray/dvd to rent in a few months so that's the trade off. That said, $4.99 for the standard rental is a bit steep. This comes out on Blu-ray on December 29th.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

$6.99 as opposed to waiting for possibly the new year (in terms of delivery or what not) is more than a fair trade off. Especially since the film is great.
