Starts off as a good western....but, wow. Good dialogue throughout.

Well, fuck. Now I really want to see it now. I was going to anyway... but the way you guys talk about it. Seems like a damn good time.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

I'm wondering if it needed a score. Definitely a slow burn for that first 2/3rds. Then they take OMG to the next level.

It's very sparse. Maybe that's how they saved money. But there's a song at the end.

That would be a cheap one but it's a very good one too.

Really liked this ... I did not recognize David Arquette, Sean Young, or Michael Pare ... Nice buildup and THAT scene will stay with you for a bit. Very well done.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

I'm not saying a trailer makes a movie but I'm sure as hell more excited for this than what appears to be another snooze-fest from Tarantino.

I somewhat wish I didn't watch the trailer at all due to that last shot.....hope I didn't ruin anything for myself.

No kidding, I watched this last night & am still disturbed today. I don't think I've seen anything in a film that had such as visceral impact in a very long time.

This was a very unique movie & was well worth the $7.00 rental.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

Just finished watching this. The runtime seemed like it would be a bit much, but the movie was never boring. All of the development pays off in spades in terms of emotional investment. This was so much better than I was expecting it to be, seeing as I'm not a big Western guy. The horror aspects were some of the more horrific things I've seen...especially THAT scene. I can't recommend this highly enough.

It kind of has that True Grit feel with a horror twist.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

Normally I hate slow burn flicks but this one paid off in strides. The characters kept me interested and I was NOT expecting it to be as brutal as it was. Great flick, definitely going to pick it up on blu.

He's 68. He looked like a grizzled....68, okay 70.

Very good movie.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

Oh, I almost forgot - that one scene (among many) that made laugh was the one with
Spoiler:
Matthew Fox when he tells Russell and company that he will awaken at the slightest sound and shoot no questions asked. It was when they were camping and Jenkins talks to Russell about how to read in the bathtub without getting the book wet. Then you hear the crackling of twigs and Fox sits up and fires.
It was funny to me.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

I loved the part with Jenkins and Russell in the Sheriff's office
Spoiler:
eating the "soup", great scene. Jenkins says something like there's corn in here. Russell "its corn chowder"; Jenkins "well then it's all adding up"
I laughed out loud like crazy on that...

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

So, I just watched this and it was good. Shit turned sideways real quick. Probably the most brutal thing I've seen on screen in a long time. Some disturbing shit.

Cool movie though. Gave me the same vibe as Ravenous did back then.

Re: Bone Tomahawk (2015, Kurt Russell western)

Watched this last night. I thought it was pretty good. I liked the subtle humour they threw into some scenes. And definitely some brutal scenes to watch.

Of the westerns starring Kurt Russell this year, I found this to be much better than The Hateful 8.

Really enjoyed this one. Still not sure about Patrick Wilson's character.
