I do hope she returns in some capacity. Heck, she could show up in Justice League, certainly a villain like Brainiac or Darkseid (or whomever they use as the big villain) could get her out of the PZ.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. No reason to drop a true Superman sequel and move forward with these other properties. Bizarre to me.

If you go on this news story and look at the chart labelled US debut for superheros, and you will notice MOS was number 1 over everything, which was a good sign going into a sequel.

I don't doubt the report is probably true because WB is all about their rushed shared universe and Batman.

I thought - for all intents & purposes - that Batman v Superman was supposed to to be Man of Steel 2? Was I wrong about that?

It started out that way but when you have people who love Batman more than Superman handling the movie, it's not surprising that the supposed main character gets pushed aside.

The "fixed" thing is totally played out, but this post was asking for it. (Did you see the way it was dressed?)

Speaking of totally played out, fucking Batman.

I don't agree with Batman being played out necessarily but I think a lot of how DC/Warner have crafted their universe to fit along the tone of the Nolan trilogy has been a mistake since day one and I love those films. It just seems like they're catering too much to the Batman universe to make everything else work within those confines. Man of Steel suffered from it and I have to believe that the other characters will to some extent as well.

Personally, I can't wait for the Justice League movie featuring Batman, Batman, Green Batman, Wonder Batman, AquaBatman, and Batman.

Just a rumor, everyone. Let's not fall on our swords just yet.

With some of the decisions made so far I honestly wouldn't be surprised though. The important factor to DC/Warner seems to be establishing their universe just enough so that they can squeeze out Justice League films. I question how much planning they've actually done and what will be thrown out the window the second something isn't as successful as they want it to be.

Maybe WB is realizing that Henry Cavill was a casting misfire (their second one after Brandon Routh) and don't want to put him at the centre of their franchise. Because he's playing Superman, he has to be a major player in JLA movies, but they may be hoping that the presence of all the other superheroes will...dilute him a bit.

I don't think he's miscast. He's just being directed by Snyder very badly. Probably cuz he's too busy "making shit look cool". Save for a few moments in Man of Steel, the guy has ONE facial expression on his face the whole movie. Furrowed eyebrows.

I don't know about you, but when I think of Superman, that's not how his face looks like. And based on the latest BvS trailer, we're getting more of the same.

I've seen him in other projects and I just don't think he's a very good actor and he comes off as very boring in interviews too. I'll grant you that he looks perfect for the part and his American accent is pretty good, but he just doesn't bring the charisma required for the role (see Reeve, Christopher).

And I think that still has to do with how he looks like when he's portraying Superman. He's wearing the costume--muted colors and all--but he doesn't LOOK like Supes because he's always brooding. I haven't seen Man from UNCLE but even based on the trailer I think his character there is a better Clark Kent than the one we got in MOS.

I think Cavill has a good look and was decent as Superman for what the film called for. I really don't mind him in the role I guess.

Cavill is no RDJ, but he handled himself well enough in MoS.

Batman vs Superman looks to be the sequel. It's right after the events of MOS. It's the reason why Batman wants to kick his ass.

I think the next Superman will be after the events of BvS.

I'm pretty sure Goyer and Snyder have a lot more for how Superman is than Cavill. Cavill was fine. It's just that they don't have the character have depth.

I hope this rumor turns out false and WB is planning another Super-Man movie. I really liked how Man of Steel moved away from the comic book roots of the character in spirit, tone, and characterization.

Not really. There's a lot of Superman there, whatever that is that you consider him, it's just that the writing doesn't justify it very well.
