I suppose a Kessel Run movie would be too short?

They could make a Boba Fett movie that takes place between Empire and Jedi where carbonited Han Solo gets stolen from Fett from another bounty hunter before he can return him to Jabba, and he has to get him back to collect the bounty.

I see her more as Dengar. I'm sure there will be an all bounty hunter Star Wars movie coming up, but all the bounty hunters will be female.

re: Star Wars Anthology: Untitled Han Solo Film (2018, D: Miller & Lord)

Disney chief Bob Iger talked “Star Wars” during his time at the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference on Tuesday, confirming that Chewbacca would appear in the new Han Solo standalone movie being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

The next film in the “Star Wars” universe to hit theaters will be Gareth Edwards‘ “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which is due on Dec. 18.

“‘Rogue One’ … is about a band of rebels plotting to steal the plans to the Death Star,” the Disney boss said. “It takes place right before what was George Lucas‘s first film, which came out in 1977 and is now called ‘A New Hope.'”

“We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy,” he continued. “And that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there’ll be possibly be more thereafter.”

Many “Star Wars” fans had assumed that Chewbacca would play a major role in the young Han Solo movie, but it had never been confirmed until Tuesday. Disney is still in the midst of casting a star.

Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew recently teased a special announcement that he has yet to make, and it’s possible that he was referring to Chewbacca’s return in the Han Solo film.

Iger told investors, media analysts and reporters listening in to today’s event that these “‘Star Wars': Stories” will be marketed “differently, but aggressively” — an effort to not divert fans from the ongoing saga, but still certainly draw their money.

That's nice that you love him and whatnot but is he even a good actor? He's alright in that film but he's not doing anything amazing aside from imitating Ford.

re: Star Wars Anthology: Untitled Han Solo Film (2018, D: Miller & Lord)

Chewie, we’re almost home.

The search for the young actor who will fill Han Solo's leather vest could be in its final stages, as multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that a shortlist quietly has emerged.

According to sources, last weekend in London tests were conducted involving actors Alden Ehrenreich, who did scene-stealing work in Hail, Caesar!; Jack Reynor, best known for his work in Transformers: Age of Extinction; and Taron Egerton, the star of The Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle.

Sources say there could be a few other names on the list, though due to the high level of secrecy on all Star Wars projects, it’s hard to ascertain them. Disney declined to comment.

Those who tested — and it’s unclear if these were costume tests or screen tests — were plucked from a previous group of around 10 actors who met with the directors. Among the names whispered to have met are Miles Teller, the Whiplash star who appears in the Divergent movies; and Ansel Elgort, the Fault in Our Stars star who also is in the Divergent movies.

Emory Cohen, who played Saoirse Ronan’s love interest in the Oscar-nominated Brooklyn, also tested. Actors from Richard Linklater’s new movie Everybody Wants Some also had meetings, according to sources.

Disney and Lucasfilm have searched from Alderaan to Yavin to find the new star, with sources saying that more than 2,500 actors have either met with those in charge of casting or put themselves on tape, becoming part of one of the widest casting calls ever.

As THR reported in December, Disney cast a wide net to find the right actor to play a younger version of the character made famous by Harrison Ford in 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope, as well as The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and 2015's The Force Awakens.

The character will debut in a Star Wars spinoff movie being made by Disney, Lucasfilm and filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie) and scheduled for 2018.

Ford's swaggering Solo is considered a standout character of the seven-film Star Wars series. The 73-year-old actor’s appearance as Solo in The Force Awakens was a major factor in the movie’s critical and commercial success.

I'm somewhat comfortable with these 3. Egerton is the best choice.

Egerton definitely has that swagger. A mix of swagger (at the end of Kingsman) and delinquency (at the beginning of Kingsman) is perfect for the role.

Another casting to think about, who will play the female lead? Because you know Han Solo is gonna be chasing some tail haha

I could see Solo having a smuggler's rivalry with a female character. Olivia Wilde perhaps? I liked her in Tron Legacy. In my opinion, a good female rival for this film would be a few years older than Solo, as she constantly interferes with his smuggling runs. I can imagine a female rival flipping off Solo as she steals his cargo and flies away in her ship (not like that would happen in a SW film, but you get my point...)

I know its canon in the lore now, which means fuck all to the films, but maybe they show his previous wife possibly? Granted... I don't know her timeline either.

Not that I'd care nor really think that would happen. Didn't they say this film would show how Han met Chewie?

Han Solo doesn't chase tail. The tail chases Han Solo.

I can see Egerton taking this role and doing a fairly good job with it. I'm just glad that one from Age of Adeline isn't anywhere near this.

His fans were getting obnoxious. Not to mention he himself was trying to publicly campaign for the part.

Initially, I was psyched that Teller and Franco were off, but then Joblo had to go and say they were still in the running.

And personally, I'm happy Lerman's off as well. As good as he is in certain roles, a charismatic and humorous blockbuster hero just isn't one of them.
