Looks sort of like American Graffiti... in Space!

Lord and Miller quit the movie.
It's been filming since January. With 6 months in, do they even get credit for the footage they shot?

Yikes. That can't be good for the anthology films. Especially in the middle of and this deep into principal photography.

Bizarre that they're citing "creative differences" this deep into filming. C'mon, get your shit together.

Yeah this is pretty mind boggling. How do you shoot 6 months worth of footage, send the dailies to Kennedy and company at Lucasfilm/Disney, then bail right now?
We don't know what went on behind the scenes, but there must have been some big blowup. I mean a script was written and they're shooting it. What would cause issues?

Sounds kind of similar to what happened on Superman II.
Dick Donner was fired well into filming it and was replaced by Dick Lester. Lester got credit for all the footage that Donner shot until Donner's cut eventually got released back in 2006.

Well, my interest in this is now really non existent.

Wow, apparently the Han Solo movie only has 3 more weeks left of principal photography.
This move makes even less sense.
With a new director, there is probably going to be a lot of re-shoots.

Guesses on the replacement? I would think it would have to be someone close to the film... maybe Lawrence Kasdan or his son Jon.

Who knows, this kind of thing seems to be a running theme with the spin offs. I will say I have no interest in this now.

I can't imagine there will be a ton of reshoots. The movie comes out in less than a year.

I sure hope they're not forced to recast the role Han's mentor. I mean, nothing says "Star Wars" to me more than Woody Harrelson.

Lawrence Kasdan has experience as a big movie director. But, would he really want to jump in this and work off storyboards, notes that Lord and Miller used? He hasn't done anything worthwhile as a director in well over 10 years.
Yeah whoever they bring in will essentially be a clean up director like Dick Lester on Superman II.

Whoever they hire will have to come on with the complete understanding that it is a salvage mission. Nothing more.

Wish Disney would give more creative control to their directors. I would like to see what Gareth Edwards' original cut for Rogue One was like.

Part of me wishes this thing was scrapped altogether...but they've spent probably 100m on it by now.
This is the second time Lucasfilm has had pretty big issues with films deep into production...I have to fault the way they're apparently running things. They've either made the wrong choice(s) with directors, changed their minds during production, etc.
My guess here is that the rough cut is not coming together well...and Lucasfilm is (again) planning some pretty big changes. And overruled the directors who either left or were going to be let go anyways.
