Inside Out is having an extremely strong mid-week and minus the Tuesday night previews ($2.4m for MMXXL, $2.3 for T:G), still in the lead as of Wednesday. MMXXL scored an A- CinemaScore (the first garnered a B), Terminator: Genisys scored a B+ CinemaScore, which puts it in line with Terminator 3 and Salvation.

Anyone else think that Jurassic World and Inside Out both have a good shot at topping the box office for either (or both) Terminator and Magic Mike for the weekend?

I think it will happen.

According to Deadline, Inside Out and Jurassic World were #1 and #2 on Thursday with $7.7M and $6.9M respectively.

Terminator dropped to $6.5M, Magic Mike XXL dropped to $5.7M.

Not surprised that MMXXL had a better CinemaScore than the original. All this movie needed was deliver what was promised in the trailers/ads, unlike the first one, which had a really horrible story. I was only interested because of Soderbergh as its director.

Never expected Jurassic World to have that kind of run.

I hope that Terminator can chug along to get some sequels greenlit.

Not sure if it will. I'd be surprised if got to a $100M domestically so it'll need a huge push overseas.

It's summer and it'll be at about $45m by the end of the weekend, I think it should hit $100m with no issue. However, it will need a lot more than that to be declared a success.

IMHO I thought Terminator was a way more entertaining retread/sequel in a long-running series than Jurassic World, but obviously I don't get the common folk's tastes

That's true. Sorry, I had HSX (Hollywood Stock Exchange) on my mind and I was thinking it won't hit $100M after 4 weeks (when the stock delists). That said, it still will be a disappointing domestic total. But like most things, the international market is where a movie sinks or swims.

I'm also wondering what will happen once the rights go to James Cameron in 2019.

I've watched both of them this week and in my opinion they come out about even. Jurassic World had a mediocre script saved by good direction and above average performances. Genisys had a decent script (despite feeling a bit like fan fiction) hindered by bland actors giving soap opera quality performances. I give them each a solid 6/10.

Both had their pros and cons. Pratt is a charismatic lead, but his chemistry with Howard was nonexistent in Jurassic World. But hell, an underdeveloped romantic subplot in a movie about a killer dinosaur is hardly worth fretting over. As for Terminator, Jai Courtney is a poor man's Sam Worthington and I don't know what the producers were thinking getting him to take over for Michael Biehn. Not even a slight resemblance there. How he and Jason Clarke keep landing lead roles in major franchises is a mystery to me. Also, JW felt like a $150M production -- Genisys did not. The reports that it had a higher budget than Jurassic World were surprising to me.

The guy with the Spider-Man avatar is just not plugged into the mainstream interests, I get it.

What I really want is that third Conan film, and I don't think this is going to help unless the Terminator grosses are really strong overseas.

Looks like Jurassic World won the weekend by $500k, but it's too close to call until final numbers are out. 4th of July being a Saturday really took the wind out of the Box Office.

1. Jurassic World $31m ($558m cume)
2. Inside Out $30.5m ($246m cume)
3. Terminator Genisys $27.8M ($43.2m cume)

Okay, a more updated tally. Looks like this will make money overseas and I'm thinking that was the plan all along.

Domestic: $44,130,404
International Box Office: $85,500,000
Worldwide Box Office: $129,630,404

Movie reportedly cost $170M. If it has enough international legs, it should make a profit. Arnold is still a draw for international audiences.

I think domestic-wise it will top off at around $80-85M.
