It's damn good. I rewatched not that long ago and it still held up.

I've never seen this movie. With the success of Minus One and liking that movie a lot, I think I'll have to rent this. I see it's like a $4 rental. I don't have Crunchyroll.

Anyone who watches this after Minus One is going to be in for a shock.

Both actually rebooted the franchise. The reboot in Shin was just never followed up on (despite the huge box office numbers in Japan).

I saw Shin Godzilla on rental and was very bored. Most of time was spent on how to defend Japan. Godzilla Minus One is way better film, saw it two times.

Shin Godzilla is a really good movie. Don't sell it short. It's an allegory to the Fukushima disaster. You really get a sense of how the Japanese Government screwed that situation up through slow action. It's actually really interesting. Fascinating, really. It's a political movie as much as a Godzilla movie, which is why it did 3 times the business of Minus Zero in Japan.

Alright. Got an Amazon video credit for watching an Ad and it paid for a free rental, so I went ahead and rented it.

The eyes from the 2nd form are still haunting me. Hideous, scary, and absolutely goofy as fuck all at the same time. I already want to give this a 2nd watch.

Alright finally watched. It’s nowhere near as good as Godzilla Minus One. It did have some interesting moments.
The characters weren’t as interesting and I didn’t think too highly of the Godzilla design. The slinky worm with the toy eyes looked atrocious And Godzilla stood around a lot. But the G destruction scenes were pretty good.
Another complaint I had was there was just too many characters to follow and they tried to ID so many with the subtitles. I got a headache trying to figure out who was who. And too many meetings. This was very political. The character that stood out was the hot Japanese girl who was the envoy to the United States
Overall, a B- from me. Not something I’ll watch again.

That's why Shin Godzilla was such a huge hit in Japan (Godzilla Minus One has done just a little more than 1/3 of Shin Godzilla's box office numbers in Japan).
