This looks like the correct way to approach a remake. Keep the original concept but do everything else as if it were a movie made in modern times. Basically, make it completely different.

Besides, I'm sure at some point you've seen this premise before anyway (The first Magnificent 7, A Bug's Life, The Road Warrior, Three Amigos, etc.).
Tl;dr: Go watch Seven Samurai right fucking now!

Typical Hollywood... Can't think of anything better to do than remake a classic film which was a remake of a true classic. It seems that Hollywood's decades old case of remakeitis has recently had a major flare up and they just can't seem to shake it, in spite of knowing the outcome is rarely positive. Maybe, like True Grit, the *real* reason is to get people to watch a "old," superior, movie, something for which modern audiences seem to have little tolerance. Heck, if Disney can remake a film as recent as Star Wars (aka Episode IV: A New Hope) and get away with it, it should be a easy sell for something "really old." I'll stick with Seven Samurai, the 60s film, Three Amigos, or even Battle Beyond the Stars, any of which will be superior to this.

Looks terrible. These ratings are hilarious.
Rated PG-13 for extended and intense sequences of Western violence, and for historical smoking, some language and suggestive material

Looks pretty cool. I'll probably see it opening weekend.

Reviews are starting to come in. Looking pretty mixed so far.

Seems to be mostly positive, the one claiming "This is what Suicide Squad should have been." made me cringe though.

I think it's on Amazon instant Video. Not sure if it's free w/ Prime or not. Maybe I'm just wrong too.

Have movie cash for this so will most likely get to see this, but do hope it gets good reviews. Have been loving the modern made westerns. But, did just get the original collection on blu so will definitely have to check out the first...

Someone remind me please. Who played the Toshiro Mifune part in The Magnificent Seven and plays it in the new remake?
