re: Spider-Man (Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot) (2017)
I don't really get what this means...?
He can cameo in Cap 3... be in Avengers... but his solo movie can't be directly related to those story lines?
And are they saying they want a solo movie before Avengers and another one after?
Gumpert told Pascal, if the deal goes through and Marvel gains control of Spider-Man they don't want Spidey's next solo film to be a continuation of the Captain America: Civil War plot just because he would be making a cameo in it. But, Spidey's new universe would "exist in a world where that story has happened" and "superheroes are now divided into two groups."
And are they saying they want a solo movie before Avengers and another one after?

Ok, so are we all on agreement that this IS going to be happening? Way too many emails/deep discussions and alluding to discussions to mark this as one giant hoax.
WOuld make sense if Marvel wanted a HS kid to not have Garfield. Garfield looks old.
Dylan O Brian/Logan Lerman definitely look like HS kids still.

For sure. I've thought this was going to happen for a few years now.

That's not all! Marvel wants Spider-Man to appear in the Avengers: Infinity War movies that will be released May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019. In order to make that happen Marvel wants Sony to guarantee that a second standalone Spider-Man film would be released in 2019. Marvel wants that reassurance because they don't want there to be a long delay between his solo films.

Right... but when would the first one be? Cameo in Cap in 2016... then a solo movie in 2016...2017? Not that anyone here would have the answers

I really wish Spidey would come to the MCU, but just because they are talking about it doesn't mean a deal will ever actually be reached.
It says a second solo Spidey movie in 2019. I assume the first one would be in 2016 or whatever Sony already has planned, and Marvel just says they don't want a long delay between sequels, so the second has to be in 2019 at the latest.

Not that I remember... ASM3 was 2016 but got pushed.
I think the article is just kind of poorly written and doesn't explain everything correctly.

Yeah I agree; I think the email is saying that the first MCU Spidey film would be inbetween the start and the outcome of Cap 3.

Oh how far we've come from Spider-Man's 2002 opening shattering records and winning acclaim.

Yeah, it's weird to think back about the original Spidey release. There's been bigger event movies since then, but it felt different and unexpected then. I remember being in college and having to watch a midnight show because everything else was sold out.

I don't think we get many sold outs like Spidey did. Like the big movies now make more money possibly but they didn't hit it like something Spidey upfront and hard. Spidey had a big black cock for theaters and it rammed hard and quickly.

And even with the massive opening weekend, Spidey had some stamina. It wasn't a two pump chump like summer blockbusters these days.

Yeah, opened to $114m which was unheard of back then.
It added to the excitement, still fell asleep during the movie though.
It fell 38% in its second weekend, which is really low for a huge summer opening like that. Movies like Inception had smaller drops but didn't open anywhere near as big.

Actually, I hope they at least keep the ASM2 suit. That suit was better than the film deserved.

Interesting. Though I like Lerman, I would expect Marvel to go younger (not that he's old).
Then again, when your article begins with "A reddit user who claims they have a friend close to Disney", how trustworthy can it be?
Marvel's Spider-Man Said To Be Done Deal; Logan Lerman Favorite
A reddit user who claims they have a friend close to Disney is stating a deal is now in place for Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Studios movies.
If legit (could be a big if), the user claims a meeting was recently held between Sony and Marvel that lasted about 40 minutes. The meeting is said to have gone over the "final kinks" of the deal they have been working on to "incorporate Spider-Man into the MCU."
It's said the meeting was short because the deal for Spider-Man is already in place, and they were "simply tending to other commodities."
If the deal is in place, Marvel can now use Spider-Man possibly as a post-credit scene for The Avengers 2 and a cameo in Captain America 3.
According to the rumor, the deal is expected to be officially announced after next month's "Spidey Summit," and the "heavy favorite" to play Spider-Man is Logan Lerman.
Logan Lerman, known for the Percy Jackson movies and most recently Fury, was said to be up for the role of Spider-Man prior to Andrew Garfield, where the actor previously stated: “There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s [Spider-man] one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it.”
